  • Spacious family-owned site in the Cotswolds
  • Five minutes' drive from Cirencester and 25 from Cheltenham
  • A 15-minute drive from Bibury and the start of the Thames Path
A getaway full of fab scenery, peaceful wanders and historical streetscapes… and bringing the dog along for the journey? It’s a cinch at Mayfield Park, a family-friendly and family-owned Gloucestershire site five minutes’ drive from the market town of Cirencester and the pretty village of Bibury. This is a top spot to use as a base for explores of the spectacular Cotswolds. Overlooking the Churn valley, the site has easy access to plenty of local walks and scenic villages – just ask in reception for recommendations – and the long-distance Thames Path (so long it’ll take ramblers all the way to London) starts about 15 minutes’ drive away for lengthy treks. Exploring without needing to use feet or pedals is simple round here too: the bus route for Cirencester and Cheltenham passes the site and there’s a stop about 100 feet from the entrance; otherwise pile everyone into the car for the five-minute ride to Cirencester or the 25-minute canter to Cheltenham. Be sure to head back to the site in time to catch the sun setting over the fields, then settle in for an evening of barbecues as canine pals stretch out in the grass. Want a break from cooking? Sniff out one of the local pubs serving local eats to get a taste of Gloucestershire.

What customers say

This well-maintained campsite is praised for its friendly and helpful staff, clean facilities, and good location for exploring the Cotswolds. Pitches are generally spacious and well-kept. However, some visitors experienced significant road noise from a nearby dual carriageway, and a few mentioned issues with the slope of some pitches and limited WiFi. A number of guests noted the need for additional toilet facilities.

Fully-serviced hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked Nothing

Disliked Our pitch we discovered was on an ants nest which entered into the caravan in everything from bedding to clothes to food not nice when wake up itching with them on you .
We complained to office just said it's the weather but did not offer to help with the problem. We suggested that they treat the area so it didn't ruin anybody else's stay.we are not exaggerating the severety of the problem we got photos as well .
We bought traps and sprayed several times unable to continue holiday went home still trying to get rid of ants a week later
WOULD NOT RECCOMEND THIS SITE

Non-electric grass pitch (sloping)

Liked Facilities were always very clean.

The grounds were beautifully maintained and the flowers looked great.

Access to fridge/freezer was good.

Disliked Showers were slightly old fashioned, having to press the button every 10 seconds for water.

Also the plumbing wasn't great with the temperature consisted tly changing from hot to cold.

Hair dryer was chargeable.

Back field campsite ground was not kept very well with hit weather this made setting up camp particularly challenging.

Dog off leaf fields were very small.

Wifi was only accessable by reception.

Lots of loud car nose from nearby motorway at night.

Electric grass pitch (sloping)

Liked Great site. The cleanest toilet/shower room we have ever been to, cleaned regularly, some reviews state there needs to be more showers/toilets but we never had an issue of getting one when we went down. Fab wash room for dishes too.
The site is on a slope but it didn't bother us ..you just need to position your tent correctly to suit you. Great leaflets at the office for short walks from the site, to Cirencester, Bathurst pub and a few other shorter walks. Liked the fact they have a good slab for you to put your fire on. Fenced area for football at the top of the site too. Helpful staff. Some Residents were very helpful in suggesting places to go/visit. Bus stop outside the campsite to Cheltenham or Cirencester. About an 8 min drive to Cirencester. We walked there then ubered back. Short walk (uphill slightly) to fire & flow - lovely coffee shop, lovely food and coffee, where you can watch the beans being roasted and bagged.

Disliked Toilets/shower room was a little walk from tent area. But we didn't mind this, can't say its a dislike.

Traffic noise from the fly over is something you will get used to ...first night it seemed really loud but got used to it.

Some reviews said they felt it was a little overpriced, but we feel it was worth it, cleanliness, up keep of the grounds, its august peak times etc.

Liked Good size pitches, and very friendly staff. Facilities block was good. Stayed a night while visiting cirencester. Would recommend.
A few permanent residents and to note some people might challenged by the slope.
Not an issue for us.

Fully-serviced hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked Facilities clean and tidy, well kept surroundings and pitches, lovely welcoming and friendly people working there,

Disliked Noise at night, there was some traffic works near by which were very loud all night, but the park was not aware of when I spoke to them. The only thing that would make it 10/10 is some hot food available or a shop onsite.

Local attractions

With Cheltenham racecourse a mere 30 minutes’ drive away, this site is a prime pick for horsey types – but if the gee-gees don’t have the family galloping for joy, there are other four-legged, fleet and feathered options at the Cotswold Wildlife Park and Gardens, also half an hour from base. If the Cotswold Gardens grow enthusiasm for stately houses and grand designs, there’s plenty else hereabouts to entice: Chavenage House, Berkeley Castle, Bowood House, Sudeley Castle, Newark Park and Dyrham Park are all within an hour for old piles, and Westonbirt Arboretum and the gardens at Highgrove (Charlie and Camilla’s royal digs) are definitely worth a turn half an hour away. For more urban explores, start 15 minutes from the site in the scenic village of Bibury to have a poke around the Chedworth Roman Villa, travel on to Bourton-on-the-Water (20 minutes) for Birdland, a maze, a motoring museum and a model village, then take things up a notch in Cirencester, where there are Roman remains, museums, markets, parks and a manor house all waiting for visitors. Keep things soothingly low-key with a spin on the Swindon and Cricklade steam railway, 25 minutes away, or get a bit more active with watersports, paintball, fishing and horse riding at Cotswold Water Park or an adrenaline-fuelled day at the Gloucestershire Rally School, both within 20 minutes.
