Off on a family getaway in the Cotswolds? You must be heading for Cotswold Lakes Camping, a Wanderlust Camping Club certified campsite, which provides a blend of adventure activities and basic comforts.  The site is a short walk from the Cotswold Lakes, and you can spend your days exploring pretty Cotswold villages, hiking sections of the Thames Path and refuelling in traditional Cotswold pubs. If you’d rather get active with the kids, kayaking, watersports and fishing – for novices or seasoned pros – are all available a short drive away from the pitches. Facilities on site include mains water, hot showers and a recharge station. Self-catering is also easy, as the site has communal barbecues for guests to use alongside an indoor kitchen with three sinks, a microwave and a phone-charging tower and an outdoor kitchen with two washing-up sinks. Dogs are welcome on site, just as long as they’re kept on leads, and they even have their own designated walking areas.

What customers say

This developing campsite offers beautiful scenic views and a good on-site bar. While some guests found pitches uneven and facilities basic, with occasional issues like running out of toilet paper, others praised the clean toilets and showers (especially in May 2026). The location near the Cotswold Sculpture Park and lakeside walks is a highlight. However, inconsistent management presence and misleading website descriptions regarding amenities like shops and lakes remain recurring concerns. Improvements in grassing and facilities were noted by returning guests.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked Facilities
Good little set up of a campsite
Charging station was a good idea

Disliked There could be a little bit more on site in regards for children. Like some stepping stones or something.
Barbeques limited - couldn’t locate any coal.
Would be nice if there was an area for a bit of shelter near picnic tables.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked Pitch sizes are excellent and the site is predominantly flat.
A free to use charging station for mobile phones is a good touch.
A short walk to the pub in the village.
On site catering.
The composting toilets were great when the others weren't available.

Disliked The facilities, whilst clean, didn't meet expectations for the price paid.
The site suffers from low water pressure which meant the toilets often didn't flush and the showers were a dribble.
There's also not enough toilets/showers for the number of pitches, so people were frequently queuing.
There's no real place to be able to have just a wash. There are a few communal sinks but they're only good for teeth brushing.
The chemical waste disposal is right behind the washing/shower area, and doesn't have a trap, so you get drain smells when people are emptying.
The WiFi only worked intermittently due to too many people being connected.
The advertising gives the impression that there's direct access to the lakes from the site - there isn't.

Many of the problems stated were as a result of the number of people on the site, which was busy due to the August bank holiday. This is partly due to the flat pricing structure - it was £40/night for up to 6 people. This makes it very expensive for a couple and means the owners don't really know how many people they need to be able to cater for.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked It was lovely and flat, and the pitches were pretty big. Also, lots of toilet roll in the toilets, which is much appreciated.

Disliked There weren't really enough toilets and washing up facilities for the numbers there on bank holiday weekend. The toilets were cleaned regularly but the smell of the septic tank wasn't great - particularly as we were given a pitch very close to the toilets. The place to empty chemical toilets is also right by the washing up sinks, which isn't great. Would be useful if the washing up sinks had draining boards, and there is no sink space to have a wash...

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked Good location close to Cirencester and in the Cotswold lakes. Clean toilets and showers. Good local pub.

Disliked Only gave the customer service a low score as we didn’t see anyone the whole time. You have a pitch number in the confirmation email and there are no staff onsite.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked Wifi was good and toilets and showers were good, although by the morning it was carnage, only to be expected with so many people and children 🫤

Disliked Was very disappointed to discover there was no access to the lakes, as the site name and pictures led us to believe, rather annoying.
So we were trapped there with nowhere to walk to with our dog, and there were many many children to listen to… 🤪

Local attractions

The beach at Cotswold Country Park is a mere 20 minutes’ walk away, where you can bounce around on the inflatable obstacle course. For more alfresco activities, hire cycles from Discover Bikes (10 minutes’ drive) and set off on woodland rides, or head to Lake 32 Outdoor Centre, where you can all take part in family paddleboarding and kayaking jaunts. You can also test your skills at archery at The Cotswold Range (both five minutes). Add a bit of culture into your holiday mix by checking out the mosaic flooring and ancient Roman version of central heating at National Trust - Chedworth Roman Villa (half an hour). Closer to base camp, there’s a wonderful sculpture trail with more than 170 installations in the Cotswold Sculpture Park (five minutes’ walk). Fancy a day petting farm animals and trying to spot a celebrity? Do both at Cotswold Farm Park (35 minutes’ drive), the brainchild of TV personality Adam Henson, and home of Shire horses, rare-breed sheep and cattle. You can also meet eye-to-eye with giraffes on the raised Giraffe Walkway at Cotswold Wildlife Park & Gardens (40 minutes).
