What customers say
This campsite offers a stunning location for walkers and explorers, with easy access to Castleton and numerous hiking trails. Visitors praise the breathtaking views, friendly and accommodating owners, and well-maintained, clean facilities. While the site is noted to be sloping, this is clearly advertised. Some mention a desire for more facilities, such as showers, but generally find the "back to basics" approach enjoyable. The farm animals are a popular addition, especially with families.

Ok if you don’t mind sleeping on a slant,
Non-electric grass campervan pitch (sloping)
Liked Loads of space and not busy even for the holidays.
Disliked The site is really slanted and not really suitable for camping on. The ground was also super soft and muddy so was not suitable for us and we ended up leaving a night early. Men’s toilets were also not well kept.

From the manager: Thank you for your feedback. As noted prior to booking, the site is naturally sloped due to its location next to Winnats Pass, so it is not flat.
We’re sorry to hear that the ground conditions affected your stay. Unfortunately, the recent heavy rain made the ground softer and a little muddy.
We do our best to keep the facilities clean at all times, but during wet weather it can be difficult to prevent some mud being brought into the toilets from the field.
Fantastic location, beautiful surroundings and quiet.

Excellent back to basics site in the heart of Castleton. Perfect
Non-electric grass campervan pitch (sloping)
Liked We had a great time at this site over the Bank Holiday weekend. The lady running the site was so lovely and was always happy to help, she even let us book in for an extra night last minute as we enjoyed it so much. And despite it being full on the Saturday, there was plenty of space around us and we didn't feel too close to anyone.
Toilets on site were clean and new, honesty snack box which was a great touch, Ice Cream van appeared on the Saturday evening, as well as their own goats in a pen on site which were amazing (and hilarious).
Really lovely back to basics campsite, with more than enough nice touches to make it a perfect place to stay.
10 minute walk to the lovely Castleton, beautiful views surrounding you and the most amazing walks right on the doorstep.
Disliked The site is advertised as sloping and it definitely is if you want to be out of the way nearer the top. Really didn't bother us at all but it's something to mention.
