What customers say
A small, peaceful campsite on a working farm, praised for its friendly and welcoming hosts and stunning views, particularly of Bamford Edge. Facilities are described as basic but clean and functional, with a good hot shower and toilets. Its location is ideal for walkers and cyclists, offering easy access to local trails and pubs. Some visitors noted signage could be improved and facilities are best suited for adults due to their basic nature.

Great location, friendly chickens but be sure to be silent.
Non-electric grass tent pitch
Liked Fantastic location with a great view of Bamford edge. Good base to start walks from, just next to Thornhil trail which takes you to Lady Bower. Good facilities which were cleaned daily. Also friendly chicken had lunch with us which was lovely.
Disliked It was not disclosed to us that it was a quiet camp site until we arrived. We are not raucous however chit chat at 10:30 we thought would be acceptable but alas, it was not. We were respectful of this but it would be good to know before hand.

From the manager: Thank you for your review with regards to the campsite been a quiet campsite that is exactly what we are .tou definitely wasn’t respectful of that and had no considerations for the other campers the neighbours ands the surrounding your group was extremely loud and inconsiderate until after midnight any one coming to stay at our campsite must respect that we are a quiet campsite no music which you also didn’t listen to .your review shows how little consideration you have for others that you thought your behaviour was ok . After the experience with you we have decided next year there will be no groups just couples and solo travellers which is a shame after three years of no problems

Non-electric grass tent pitch
Liked Site owners are very friendly and accomodating. We instantly felt welcomed.
The site was very clean and tidy and there was no noise, apart from the other campers and a few distant cows mooing.
The facilities included a toilet, shower and a sink, with clean water.
We will definitely use this site again.
Thank you very much.

Very welcoming and peaceful place to camp. Would stay again!
Non-electric grass tent pitch
Liked The campsite is peaceful and simple. The facilities are kept clean and the owners are very friendly. Eggs from their chickens were available to buy at the honesty shop table at the top of their lane. During my stay I accidentally scorched the ground but the owners were very nice about it. Careful about overdoing the camp fire, even if it's elevated!!
The site was in a great position for me to explore local running routes, checking out Mam Tor and Ladybower reservoir.
There is also a lovely little route over Bamford Mill to The Angler's Rest pub. Great if you have a little light left in the day to see the weir and stepping stones in the evening light.
I felt the pitch was great value and thoroughly enjoyed my stay.
Disliked A portion of the site is ever so slightly sloped but most of it is flat, so if that would be a problem better to arrive sooner than later to secure a suitably flat pitch. If pitching up on the flat area be mindful of others and don't spread out too much (in hindsight I could have been more mindful which became more evident as it got busier towards the weekend).

Loved the site and will aim to return next year
Non-electric grass tent pitch
Liked Lovely site on a working farm with friendly owners. Small field for campers with single outside toilet (mini shed) , single shower and toilet room. There was also one sink with cold water for washing pots and sourcing water. Fresh eggs are sold on site and the surrounding area is beautiful. The site is maintained well and facilities are cleaned regularly. If you want the countryside this site is worth a visit!.
Disliked Nothing to dislike.

Brilliant all round
Non-electric grass tent pitch
Liked We had a brilliant time at Winhill View, it’s a perfect location for exploring the Peak District. You can drive to Sheffield if you need supplies or a bit of city life or equally walk straight from your tent to see the outstanding countryside. Fantastic hosts and a fantastic site we would return!
