Beautiful surroundings but not a peaceful site.
Camping cabin
Liked Views are stunning and the site had everything we needed. The welcome box of biscuits, tea, coffee and hot chocolate was a nice touch too with mugs (but no tea spoon) provided.
Disliked Site rules state that no excessive noise should be heard after 10.30pm but as there were so many groups on site, this was not the case. The site was noisy and we didn’t get the peaceful stay we were hoping for. Rubbish was also left around the site.
Great if you’re a big group and wanting to socialise all night but not ideal for a small family with young children hoping for a peaceful stay.

Perfect cosy getaway – highly recommended!
Glamper camping pod
Liked We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Ernest’s Retreat! Everything was perfect from start to finish. The pod was beautiful, cosy, clean and very comfortable, and the whole place had such a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. We really enjoyed spending time here and it was exactly what we needed for a lovely getaway. Everything was well thought out and we felt very comfortable throughout our stay. We had such a great time and made some lovely memories. We would definitely recommend Ernest’s Retreat to anyone looking for a peaceful, cosy and enjoyable escape. We loved our stay and would happily come back again!
Disliked Nothing at all — we genuinely enjoyed everything about our stay!

Great family glamping area, fantastic facilities. Friendly manager.
Rambler camping pod
Liked Great pods overall, managed to experience the size of each one thanks to our group. Toilets/showers and kitchen all fantastic and well kept. Scenery was great, nice open field for kids to play. Water taps nicely placed on either side of the camp.
Disliked Nothing I disliked per se. Wish there was some shelving inside the pod I was in or maybe under the bed storage like the bunks in the other pods. Steps could possibly be reinforced a little more, these are just nit-picks.

A stay of two halves
Camping cabin
Liked The first few days were great. We arrived to a bustling but not overcrowded site, a mix of couples and families. The pod and facilities were all clean. The tea/coffee/biscuits in the pod was a nice touch. The ice-creams in the communal kitchen are a great idea (£1.50 payment online or coins in the honesty box). The pizza van that came was reasonably priced and the food was very good. The views are fantastic.
Disliked Our holiday changed when a large group of 12+ pods arrived. They were all obviously family/friends. The adults congregated in one area of the site and their children were left unsupervised. We had one child trying to open our pod window from the outside, when I went to the loo I was met with a group of kids congregating inside, the toilets were a mess, and the litter left by the teenagers sat on the seats outside the loos was absolutely disgusting. We actually cut our holiday short and left on the evening of our final night.
Feels very hard to rate because the first half of our stay was great but unfortunately it was completely ruined by the large group.

Glamper camping pod
Liked The lovely touches of hot chocolate sachets, mugs, kettle and the provision of an electric heater. Plus, icecreams for sale via honesty box in the communal pot washing area. Good number of showers for the amount of campers
