General

  • Award-winning family-run rural site close to village and pubs
  • Located in the Peak District National Park
  • Play area, dog-walking area and friendly farm animals

Upper Hurst Farm is an award-winning family-run site close to the village of Hartington in the Peak District National Park. The rural site is within walking distance of a family- and dog-friendly pub, with several other pubs a couple of miles away.

The area around the site has several lovely walking/cycling routes along with attractions including stately homes, museums, activity centres and caves. The popular theme park Alton Towers is around half an hour's drive away.

Among the animals on the farm are alpacas, Shetland ponies, Jacob’s sheep and a peacock, all of which have proved to be popular with kids. It’s also a great area for wildlife spotting, and birdwatching in particular: owls, buzzards and red kite are among the birds that have been spotted here. The farm has created a dedicated play area for kids to run around and play games, and also maintains a dog exercise area.

The site’s facilities include free wifi, a launderette with washing machine and tumble dryer, and a kitchen with washing-up area. Modern bathrooms have underfloor heating, free hot showers and a large wet room that’s suitable for guests with reduced mobility and families with small children.

Please note

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

No hen/stag parties permitted via Pitchup.com.

The site is in a beautiful and peaceful location with plenty of opportunity for many different walks and bicycle rides.
The staff are very welcoming and helpful.
The facilities on site are immaculate and efficient. Everything is well thought out for ease of use.
The site is family and dog friendly.
We enjoyed our stay so much that we extended our visit. Waking up to look across the fields towards Derbyshire hills, or to watch the animals here at play has been wonderful.

Immaculate toilet and shower block. Very friendly and helpful staff. Hardstanding pitches for caravans (ground was VERY wet when we were there after a prolonged period of rain and snow but pitches were absolutely fine). Great rural location with good views and good pubs nearby. Comprehensive information point.

Hi Diane and we are really pleased you enjoyed your stay at the end of a long cold and wet winter. It is spring but the daffs are only just showing their faces! Thank you for your review and we hope to see you again.

The cleanest site and amenity block we've ever visited. Very friendly and accommodating hosts who are on site full time and couldn't do enough for us. A quiet, family site with plenty of space. Decent pub (The Manifold) a 15 min walk away, and near the start of The Manifold Trail which is 8 miles long and great for family cycling/ walking. We stayed in a large motorhome which meant visiting other nearby villages would have been difficult due to parking, and cycling along a hilly B road was not an option with a young child, so this would be worth taking into account if you are in the same position and don't tow one of those Smart cars! But we will be back!

    Disliked:
