General

  • Award-winning family-run rural site close to village and pubs
  • Located in the Peak District National Park
  • Play area, dog-walking area and friendly farm animals

Upper Hurst Farm is an award-winning family-run site close to the village of Hartington in the Peak District National Park. The rural site is within walking distance of a family- and dog-friendly pub, with several other pubs a couple of miles away.

The area around the site has several lovely walking/cycling routes along with attractions including stately homes, museums, activity centres and caves. The popular theme park Alton Towers is around half an hour's drive away.

Among the animals on the farm are alpacas, Shetland ponies, Jacob’s sheep and a peacock, all of which have proved to be popular with kids. It’s also a great area for wildlife spotting, and birdwatching in particular: owls, buzzards and red kite are among the birds that have been spotted here. The farm has created a dedicated play area for kids to run around and play games, and also maintains a dog exercise area.

The site’s facilities include free wifi, a launderette with washing machine and tumble dryer, and a kitchen with washing-up area. Modern bathrooms have underfloor heating, free hot showers and a large wet room that’s suitable for guests with reduced mobility and families with small children.

Please note

No hen/stag parties permitted via Pitchup.com.

Super pitches, good size pitches and good layout to site, 5* toilet block and wardens are a credit to the place everything was spotless. Met on arrival and shown pitch and facilities etc. Lovely site and kids enjoyed the 'meet and feed the ponies' on site during our stay. Very quiet setting and beautiful views. Will be booking again!

    Disliked:

Not much play equipment for kids but very small site which we preferred. We took football, croquet and boules which we played on the field so kept them entertained. Hopefully as more families use the site the equipment may grow to suit.

    Very helpful and open.

The location was great for getting around to various attractions.

    Disliked:

Camping next to the children's play area meant children running through our pitch from their caravan/tent. They were also shouting back and forward with parents who appeared oblivious that others may be still asleep.

The wi-fi was a little weak

Brilliant site, beautifully quiet location, lovely views across the peaks, nicest/cleanest toilet/shower facilities we have ever seen and really lovely helpful site wardens.
Pitches almost perfectly level with electricity, water and grey waste to each pitch, and if you're lucky Benedict the Peacock may come to visit whilst you're setting up.
Easy stroll to nearby pub (20mins) which serves great food, great base for touring 1the area, easy access to buses to Buxton, Ashbourne and points in between (bus stop near pub) and if you have a car then everywhere in the Peak District is within reach, in fact such a lovely place we are going back in September.

Lovely quiet location, we stayed on a Sunday and Monday night so it wasn't too busy after the weekend, and Yvonne met us on arrival and showed us the facilities and then down to our plot. Nice facilities on site - lovely warm showers. The campsite was a nice short walk from the local pub - added bonus, and easy to get to. Everyone was really friendly, and I'd happily go back!

One of the best sites we have visited in a long time. Sue and a Paul could not have done anymore, they welcomed us and looked after our every need. The facilities were spotless even though they were very busy on the Saturday nigh/ Sunday morning. We liked the advice on where to go locally including beauty spots. Definitely recommended.
