Grass and gravel pitches
Touring pitch backed by greenery
Neatly landscaped site

  • Adults-only Derbyshire touring site in the Peak District National Park
  • Buxton 10 minutes’ drive and Chatsworth House 25 minutes
  • Essentials store at reception; restaurants and pubs 10 minutes’ drive
New for 2026, Sunnyfields Caravan Park is a smartly landscaped and immaculately kept Derbyshire touring site in the Peak District National Park – and as it’s adults-only, it’s splendidly peaceful too. It makes a friendly and relaxing base for exploring the elegant spa town of Buxton (10 minutes’ drive) and major crowd-pleasers like Chatsworth House (25 minutes), as well as being a handy gateway to walking and cycling on the High Peak trails. Surrounded by farmland and scenic landscapes, the park has easy access on a wide track from the road, plus fully serviced spacious grass and gravel pitches neatly divided by mature hedges and backed by trees. Facilities include modern shower blocks (separate for men and women), washing-up sinks and a small essentials shop at reception. On warmer days you can eat outside on the decking behind reception. If you’re running short of supplies, you can stock up at several supermarkets in Buxton, which also has plenty of pubs, bars and restaurants if you’d like a break from doing all the cooking.

What customers say

This is a new site, praised for its spotless, large, and private pitches, modern toilet and shower facilities, and friendly, helpful owners. Guests highlight the peaceful atmosphere and good location for exploring the Peak District. WiFi was noted as patchy by some, and initial issues with signage, bins, and on-site shop availability were reported but managers are actively addressing these. Improvements are ongoing.

Electric grass and gravel touring pitch

Liked Size of pitches are enormous
Site is very well laid out and attended

Disliked Not enough urinals ( 2) in the toilet block or toilets (1) in welfare block
The hot tap on the pot wash area is leaking and gets very hot to touch ( got to keep it pressed to get water )
No hot air hand driers, there is a auto paper towel dispenser which was broke all the time we were there
Toilet roll ran out in the vents and ladies toilets which considering there is only a small number is poor.
The bins around site where people were camping were almost overflowing
No WiFi at all and almost zero phone signal
You need to do a bank transfer or pay with cash to purchase anything from site shop or pay balance when arriving which is time consuming when arriving especially if people are in front of you in the queue
We understand this is week one of them opening but keeping on top of facilities should be up there at the top of the priority list
It’s not a £40 a night site at present but could be when issues sorted

From the manager: thankyou for your review. There are two toilets block for the men. Reception is open most of the day, just pop in and let us know if anything needed restocking, we are more than happy to help with this. We now have a card machine.

Electric grass and gravel touring pitch

Liked Lovely site. Clean and tidy. Beautiful toilets and showers and lovely sized fully serviced pitches. The site is still having works done such as a cafe and more shower blocks. It felt very friendly and relaxed.
We are new to motor homing but we thoroughly enjoyed it.
Bus stop right outside if you want to go to Buxton or Bakewell.

Disliked Probably for us there didn't appear to be huge hiking areas but we knew we were only there for one night so we walked around the quarry. This isn't a reflection on the site its more on what you may want to do while you are there. If its for relaxing and chilling out this is the site for you. My husband got the wifi ok i didnt but again it didnt matter as we had starlink mini with us.

Electric grass and gravel touring pitch

Liked The spacious, private pitches. The setting is very peaceful and you would never know you are quite near a main road. Access on and off is easy. There is a bus stop right outside and you can bus straight into Buxton, Derbyshire, Bakewell or Matlock. Great pub 7 min cycle ride down the road. Very friendly welcome and site staff. Exceptionally clean facilities.

Disliked Phone signal, TV reception and WiFi is poor on the site, as our pitch had some phone signal, people were standing outside our caravan making and receiving phone calls, which became slightly irritating.

Local attractions

Keen to get out into the Peak District National Park? You can explore dramatic subterranean limestone formations on guided tours of Poole’s Cavern (10 minutes’ drive), or take a hilltop stroll up to the 19th-century folly of Solomon’s Temple (five minutes) for spectacular views over Buxton to the dales beyond. Three Shires Head (15 minutes) is another gorgeous spot, with packhorse bridges spanning waterfalls and pools where you can go wild swimming. You can easily spend a day wandering around Buxton (10 minutes), admiring the spa town’s handsome Georgian architecture, tasting the healing waters at St Ann’s Well and having a nose around its upmarket shops. Bakewell (15 minutes) is another attractive local town, where you can browse busy boutiques and take romantic walks along the banks of the River Wye. Close by is Chatsworth House (25 minutes), with its guided tours of opulent apartments, walks through the Capability Brown-designed formal gardens and delicious afternoon teas – just the treat to round off a special afternoon.
