  • Simple site in the middle of the Peak District National Park
  • A 15-minute drive from Bakewell, Castleton and Blue John Cavern
  • Scenic dog-friendly site with village pub five minutes' walk
When it comes to stays in the Peak District National Park, sometimes all you need is a simple and peaceful place to lay your head for the night, with basic facilities but very little to distract you from the gorgeous views all around. (Oh, and maybe a pub within walking distance…) If that's the sort of thing you seek, you’ll likely be most happy with your lot at South View Farm Camping. This is wild-ish camping (in that it’s got a toilet block and running water), spread over roughly four acres and on a very slight incline. As well as having fabulous views over to Bradwell Edge, there’s a gliding club close by, so you may spot some folk taking to the air. As befits a wild-style site, there's a laidback atmosphere in which you'll be allowed to bring a barbecue or light up a campfire, and dogs are welcome as long as they're kept under control and on a lead. There's a sink on site for topping up your drinking water, as well as washing-up sinks and rubbish bins. And that pub? It’s a mere five-minute walk along a footpath to the village of Little Hucklow and a pint of something local in the garden or by the fire (and a meal too, if you like). For more eating options, the local villages of Bradwell and Tideswell are about five minutes' drive away and have pubs, shops and takeaways. Working up an appetite for your dinner should be straightforward here, as you’ll be pretty much right in the centre of the national park with easy access to all the top hikes, activities and attractions.

What customers say

This campsite offers stunning views and a peaceful atmosphere, with spacious pitches and a friendly, attentive host. Facilities, particularly the toilets, are consistently praised for their cleanliness and good stocking. Guests appreciate the back-to-basics charm, the convenience of a nearby pub, and thoughtful touches like an honesty box. While most experiences are overwhelmingly positive, some minor points include occasional windiness and a slight slope on some pitches, but overall visitors highly recommend and plan to return.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Lovely place with a great view, there aren’t too many other people there (when we booked there were only two other spaces available) so you’re not on top of each other! You turn up and can pick where you’d like to pitch, and after a quick check in from the lovely hosts where you are informed of the important things such as where the loos are, and more importantly, where the pub is, you are left to it! The hosts do of course let you know that if you need anything just ask. A very friendly atmosphere and a fantastic place to unwind. To top it all off there is even an honesty box with a variety of well thought out items if you’ve forgotten your toothbrush or tent pegs… or want a mid goth snack!

Absolutely faultless.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Everything was great, the host was super friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. The location is beautiful and super easy to get to. Facilities were kept clean and everything was well-maintained. Multiple fields to choose from which was nice as you had your own space and wasn’t crammed at all. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked This campsite was really lovely, the toilet block was clean, washing up facilities and drinking water available too! It was really quiet, and Jade was really attentive, giving us a voucher for the pub on arrival and checking if we were okay after our stay. Stunning views, only 20 mins away from Froggart Edge and Curbar Edge and pub five mins walk away, will definitely stay again.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Amazing setting and lovely to pitch where you want and have plenty of room

Disliked Too many late night get togethers still going on past midnight

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for your review. Not entirely sure what you mean by get togethers as it’s only campers who are staying who come on site, I did walk round about half 10:30/11pm and thought how quiet it was. My phone is always on for people to get in touch with me if there’s a problem. I can’t resolve things if I’m not aware so I do apologise☺️
