What customers say
This site offers a peaceful, basic camping experience with stunning views, making it ideal for those seeking tranquility. Pitching is flexible, and the site is praised for being quiet even on busy weekends. Portaloos are consistently reported as clean and well-stocked. While the field is on a slope, many found it manageable, with some recommending levelling ramps. Nearby amenities include a recommended pub and shop, a short walk away. Some feel the pricing is a little high for the facilities provided.

Nice open area
Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch
Liked Does what it says on the tin! Nice open field and a couple of portaloos!
The people running it just leave you be and noticed them cleaning the toilets not long after we arrived.
Disliked Only downside was that majority of the field was sloped so we kept sliding down the bed in the night!! The other thing was that we only wanted to book one night because of the weather and the website wouldn't allow it so had to pay for 2 so lost out on £20. We mentioned it to the owners when we saw them so hopefully being resolved.
I also feel that £20 is a little steep, we stayed somewhere at the side of a reservoir with hardstanding pitches for £10 a night, so that had more going for it than here.

Splendid
Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch
Liked Staying on this site felt like residing in a small piece of heaven for two days. The peace found sitting in such beautiful tranquility and quiet was a real tonic to modern everyday life. It’s a basic site but was perfect for us as we could still cook lovely hearty food and didn’t feel we compromised on anything. We will certainly be returning and the owner was lovely too.
Disliked Nothing.

Liked Good views. Quiet. Portaloos clean and fully stocked
Disliked Please be aware. If biking the Monsal trail, we found no easy route to the campsite. Most direct would likely need to lift the bike. Also steps and a very steep hill. The footpath clearly states no cycling- we did manage to cycle down it though!!
