Hideaway Motorhome Stopover: Fast ferry trips to England and France

General

  • Adults-only motorhome site close to the beach and bay of St Aubin
  • Watersports centre within five minutes' drive and St Helier within 15
  • Easy access from both ferry and airport

Well, of course you'll want to hide away here… it's Jersey, after all, home to spectacular scenery, stunning coastline, clear blue waters and a lushly green island setting in the English Channel.

And it's Hideaway Motorhome Stopover, a friendly adults-only site close to the beach, shops and restaurants and within easy reach of lots of spectacular coastal cycling trails, cliffside walks and plenty of wildlife spotting and birdwatching… of course you'll want to hide away here.

The site is a couple of kilometres or a few minutes' drive from the village of Saint Peter on the west central part of the island, a short drive from the airport and 15 minutes' drive west of St Helier. Canoeing/kayaking, bike hire, fishing, golf, sailing, and tennis are all available close by, and there are several surf schools around the island. An indoor swimming pool and a watersports centre for jetskiing, waterskiing and wakeboarding are both nearby.

Hideaway takes motorhomes only, on spacious hardstanding pitches with electricity and water provided and access to a chemical disposal facility.

Please note

This site has no on-site toilet and shower facilities.

Guests under the age of 18 are not allowed on site.

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act (i.e. Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro).

A permit is required by Jersey law to bring a motorhome into Jersey. Before confirming your booking, please read the terms and conditions.

David and Carolyn were very welcoming and came to collect us from the ferry port before leading us to the stopover in their car, the hardstanding pitches were very good as was the waste disposal, the secluded valley offered good view's of the surrounding countryside, the only downside was the noise from the busy main road and the steep decline of the private road leading to the pitch which for the less confident driver may cause an issue, all in all a good stopover which we would use again.

A no frills location, if you are looking for camp site with showers etc this one is not for you. Has electric hook up and toilet emptying area along with a drive over grey water facility. Something the more expensive camp sites seem to lack. We were met at the ferry terminal by the owners and guided back to the site which was a really nice touch.

    Disliked:

No real view from the camp site because of it location but that didn't bother us too much as we only used it for a sleeping area at the end of the days siteseeing.

Excellent welcome from the site owners who made a special trip to the port in St Helier to greet us off the ferry and then led us to their site. The flat site is in the bottom of a deep wooded valley rather well protected from traffic noise of the main road well above on the hillside. The neighbouring gravel and stone recycling business was silent whilst we were there. Lots of birdlife. Good electrical hook ups, fresh water supply and waste disposal but no showers or toilets. Convenient location from which to explore the island. Owners provided the necessary certificate for campervan touring on the island required by the States of Jersey on booking. Year round opening in contrast to the few other sites on the island.

Nicely laid out large pitches all with electric and water. Didn't meet anyone, but it is December. Near a busy road but the noise is not intrusive. Very steep access which you must walk up to go anywhere by foot. So need to be fairly fit.

Local attractions

Jersey's a stunning isle for all sorts of outdoor adventures, or merely meandering around camera in hand and picnic on back seeking the most serene spot.

Your local highlights include Greve de Lecq beach and bay (10 minutes' drive), a popular Jersey beach for its wide stretch of golden sand and easy accessibility by car or local bus routes. Cafés and pubs aplenty are in the streets surrounding the sands.

Beach buffs should also like Plemont, five minutes' drive further to the north, a spectacular beach that's a top pick for surfing, swimming, rockpooling and caving; access it via the wooden staircase leading from the famed beach café down to the sea. If you're feeling fully energetic, the Jersey Sea Sport Centre for jetskiing, water skiing, wakeboarding, banana and speed boat trips is five minutes' drive from the site.

Away from the sea and sands, take a look at the medieval house and gardens of Samarès Manor, or the endangered species at Jersey Zoo, set up in the 1960s by famed naturalist Gerald Durrell; both are 20 minutes away.
