Hideaway Motorhome Stopover: Grey water drain, cassette disposal point adjacent

General

  • Adults-only motorhome aire close to the beach and bay of St Aubin
  • Watersports centre within five minutes' drive and St Helier within 15
  • Easy access from both ferry and airport

Well, of course you'll want to hide away here… it's Jersey, after all, home to spectacular scenery, stunning coastline, clear blue waters and a lushly green island setting in the English Channel.

And it's Hideaway Motorhome Stopover, a friendly adults-only site close to the beach, shops and restaurants and within easy reach of lots of spectacular coastal cycling trails, cliffside walks and plenty of wildlife spotting and birdwatching… of course you'll want to hide away here.

The aire is a couple of kilometres or a few minutes' drive from the village of Saint Peter on the west central part of the island, a short drive from the airport and 15 minutes' drive west of St Helier. Canoeing/kayaking, bike hire, fishing, golf, sailing, and tennis are all available close by, and there are several surf schools around the island. An indoor swimming pool and a watersports centre for jetskiing, waterskiing and wakeboarding are both nearby.

Hideaway takes motorhomes only, on spacious hardstanding pitches with electricity and water provided and access to a chemical disposal facility. There are no on-site toilet or shower facilities.

Please note

Guests under the age of 18 are not allowed on site.

The park does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Breed-specific legislation (i.e. Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro).

This park has no on-site toilet and shower facilities.

A permit is required by Jersey law to bring a motorhome into Jersey.

- The width of any motorhome must not exceed 2.3 metres (this includes anything attached to the vehicle, excluding mirrors and indicators). The length of a motorhome must not exceed 9.3 metres.

The site will arrange the permit for you on confirmation of your booking, so please ensure you state the following when booking:

2) Registration number.

You will receive your permit from the site via email.

Everything more than you need for a bit of wild camping including electric hook up, water and chemical toilet disposal. Nice clean site. Owners are very nice and met us at the ferry port to escort us.

All in all it does what it says on the can.

    Disliked:

My husband is not good on his feet, we took a mobility scooter with us hoping to get about without taking the motorhome but not able to use it to travel about on as there was a busy road, so be prepared to travel around in your motorhome if you have problems like we do. Not good for dog walking either although there is a bit of a wood next to the recycle plant but best not to let it off the lead.

We loved every minute. We were met on arrival into the port and then guided onto the site. We were told how to connect to electricity, where to put rubbish etc.
The site is close to St. Helier, but also close to the west facing beach where we spent most of the time.

    Disliked:

There could have been a recycling bin.

David and Carolyn were very welcoming and came to collect us from the ferry port before leading us to the stopover in their car, the hardstanding pitches were very good as was the waste disposal, the secluded valley offered good view's of the surrounding countryside, the only downside was the noise from the busy main road and the steep decline of the private road leading to the pitch which for the less confident driver may cause an issue, all in all a good stopover which we would use again.

When driving up Beaumont Hill, pass the site entrance on your left, then proceed a further 800 metres to the mini roundabout at the top; use the mini roundabout to drive 800 metres back in the direction you've just come from, until you reach the site entrance on your right. Follow the track to the bottom, and there you'll see the stopover on the right.

Local attractions

Jersey's a stunning isle for all sorts of outdoor adventures, or merely meandering around camera in hand and picnic on back seeking the most serene spot.

Your local highlights include Greve de Lecq beach and bay (10 minutes' drive), a popular Jersey beach for its wide stretch of golden sand and easy accessibility by car or local bus routes. Cafés and pubs aplenty are in the streets surrounding the sands.

Beach buffs should also like Plemont, five minutes' drive further to the north, a spectacular beach that's a top pick for surfing, swimming, rockpooling and caving; access it via the wooden staircase leading from the famed beach café down to the sea. If you're feeling fully energetic, the Jersey Sea Sport Centre for jetskiing, water skiing, wakeboarding, banana and speed boat trips is five minutes' drive from the site.

Away from the sea and sands, take a look at the medieval house and gardens of Samarès Manor, or the endangered species at Jersey Zoo, set up in the 1960s by famed naturalist Gerald Durrell; both are 20 minutes away.
