Liked Very nice campsite, owner friendly. Loved seeing farm animals. There is a shop with sausages, bacon and eggs from the farm, definitely recommend those! The village is beautiful with a nice pub. Very nice walk to Burford. Would definitely recommendj and would happily go back.

Liked Peaceful and quiet, beautiful views. Pretty village 10 minutes walk from the campsite. The owner is very friendly. The is a kettle, tea, coffee, a fridge, somewhere to charge our phones. Clean facilities. Plenty of places to visit nearby.
It is our 5th stay at Hawthorne Trench Campsite and already planning our 6th. :)

Non-electric grass and earth tent pitch
Liked It was our 4th visit at Hawthorne Trench Campsite. We love how peaceful it is and how beautiful it is. There is a limited number of pitch in a huge field, the toilets and shower are always clean. There is a fridge, a kettle, tea and coffee and somewhere we can charge our phones. The owner is really friendly. The village is very pretty, it isn’t far from Canterbury which really is worth a visit or two. We can’t wait to go back!
Disliked Nothing.

Liked We loved everything!
The owners are extremely kind and friendly, Richard knows the area very well so can give some ideas on where to go. The campsite is on a hill but that wasn’t a problem for us and some places are a little more flat. The facilities are kept clean ( we never had to queue to use them) and there is an electric kettle, a fridge and a plug to charge your phone. We done the tour of the trenches, it was very interesting (both for my children and I). The dogs owners are sometimes in the field with us and are extremely friendly, my children loved them. There is horses and sheep in the field next to the campsite. There is no noise and you can see the stars at night.
The village is 10 minutes walk away, it is a very pretty village with a nice pub called The King’s Arms (their food is really good) and a little cafe called The Cosy Tea Rooms (good cakes and scones).
Elham itself is close to a lot of places to visit, Canterbury Cathedral, Wildwood (where you can see British animals past and present), Port Lympne animal park, Dover Castle, Deal and Walmer castles.
We stayed in Hawthorne Trench for a week in June and loved it so much we decided to go back for a week in August!
Disliked Can’t think of one thing!
