Esmerelda shepherd's hut (hot tub)
Liked Beautifully maintained and well equipped accommodation on a lovely site in a gorgeous part of the world, what more could you want. Esmerelda is at the top of the site and so has a view of the sea and is very private. The wood-fired hot tub took a roaring fire for a couple of hours to get it up to temperature but the tub was well insulated so only small top up fires needed after that. Walking distance to a spectacular beach and east access to walking along the cliffs on the coastal path.

Shepherd's hut
Liked The double-bed bunk beds were great, in fact the general design of the huts was excellent. We enjoyed breakfast at the Heritage Cafe and the tour of the house was informative and very funny (thank Janey the Witch). Good value pack of wood and kindling to use with the fire pit too. We visited on a very windy night and the hut was stable and warm.
Disliked A small pool of water accumulated under the doormat. We let the site know and they explained that it was something to do with the wear and tear of the huts and was being dealt with.

Winter warmer tipi
Liked Stable Fell is a well kept campsite in stunningly beautiful setting. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a night sky like it. The campsite is ‘exactly what it says on the tin’. Guy and Ally were welcoming and friendly, Ally, particularly, paid attention to our children which was lovely. We chose the site for it’s location, because we could have a campfire and the fact we could hire a tipi with a wood burner (very cosy once Guy had sorted out a problem with it; which he did immediately we brought it to his attention). Our children, aged 7 and 5, were delighted to have the run of the field, climb the felled tree trunks, meet the neighbours’ hens and horses and to sleep surrounded by farming land and fields of sheep. They also loved the ‘parent and pest’ sharing loo! We shared the site with one other camper and his lovely dog for the first night and had the place to ourselves the second night - talk about getting away from it all. Great site for a short stay in a cosy, well equipped, tipi.
