Liked The restaurant seemed lovely.

Disliked We booked this site specifically because it is advertised on Pitchup as a “quiet and rural site”. We were looking for a peaceful nature escape and were travelling with our six-month-old baby. Unfortunately, our pitch was separated from a very busy road only by a hedge, with continuous traffic passing throughout the day. It was therefore far from quiet, and the level of traffic noise completely contradicted the description that influenced our decision to book. The road may look on a map like a small country lane without central road markings, but in reality it is extremely busy, with a constant flow of traffic. This is something we simply weren’t expecting from a campsite advertised as “quiet and rural”. When we raised this with the campsite, we were offered another pitch further away, but it was still close enough to the same road that we didn’t feel it would make any meaningful difference to the noise. We were also told we would need to pay extra for the alternative pitch! We ultimately left without staying because the site simply wasn’t what we had booked or expected based on its description. Despite this, the campsite refused to give us any sort of refund stating they couldn’t refund us because “they would lose the income from the booking”… mind boggling argument. What is particularly disappointing is that, after looking at other reviews, we found that other guests have mentioned similar issues with the road and traffic noise. If you’re looking for a genuinely quiet campsite, I would recommend checking the location carefully before booking. “Quiet” is not how we would describe our experience.
