Liked Quiet, simple, laid back and exactly what you need to a wild-esq camping getaway. The compost loo has been built brilliantly and with that being all there is on site, is all you need. There were all sorts of bird call throughout the early morning (being an early riser naturally, I love to use an app to track them), and heard some wonderful birds - even an owl I believe! Distant bleats of the sheep in the next field and some cows further up, and the rackety tracks of the East Suffolk railway (I love trains also, found this to be theraputic as a train past in the distance). Wonderful comms from Geoff in the form of his email before my stay. Cheers chap!

Liked Lovely host, peaceful land to enjoy a night in nature in, in a wonderful part of the county. Facilities here are great. Nice and laid back, pitch where you like. Perfect.

Liked A lovely part of the world, and a lovely x 2 night camp with Plum Camping. Soft ground for the pegs, with plenty of nature all around. The facilities were brilliant, hot taps for washing up, loads of basins, running water for the loos. Really well done on that. 15min walk to the Racecourse pub (Castle Carvery), so I enjoy a few there.

Disliked A touch too busy for my liking - clearly a popular spot. Quite cramped in between pitches, with a few inconsiderate kids tearing about the place. On the second night a few families had left which gave a bit more breathing space. Raiders Cider and the Farm Shop were all closed. Was gutted - though, not the fault of the host.

Liked Becoming somewhat the regular here at The Roost, I've absolutely fallen in love with the place. The hosts are wonderful, the the honesty fridge is always stocked with decent beer, and the facilities are well maintained and in good order. Plenty of space to enjoy some peace and quiet, with the sounds of nature the gentle clucking of the chickens and the horses occasionally stomping about in the next field - it is total bliss! I've become quite accustomed to the pitching of my tent(s) using the provided wheelbarrows to transit my kit - with practise I found this has got a lot easier. Will continue to enjoy many camps here at The Roost.

Liked First and foremost, I loved the level of communication from Sarah (the host) in her emails and texts. A dying art. If you love simplicity in your camping, this is the place to come. There is a farm shop on site which is unmanned, but you pay with the card machine and the stock is incredible - if you love your country fayre. Also on site is a patisserie, and I met the chef and his wife who have been there for 8 years - and they are wonderful, and my almond tart went down superbly with a mug of hot coffee. Quiet, simple, left to your own devices and in a wonderful location - for the price you pay per night, I don't think you can find better value on pitchup.com.

Liked So much to like here: The lovely greenery, the horses that chomp lazily in the field next door, the hens that have been rescued by the hosts that I said "hello gals" to as I walked past each and every time. Had a fantastic night stay at The Roost and had a wonderful reception from the hosts - so thank you for your warm welcome and departure. Love the honesty fridge (had myself a couple of the Southwold ales - nice and cold!) and just found the whole atmosphere so calm and slow; just how I like it.

Disliked If I'm being picky, probably the walk from where you park your car to the field where you can choose your pitch. I was lucky as I arrived very early (earliest check in), and got myself prime location quite close to the grassy ramp that leads back to the facilities and parking area. But - please consider that you will have to cart your gear (in a provided wheelbarrow mind) to and from your vehicle. And that's being really picky, as I do love a Park 'N' Pitch generally.

Liked Spoilt by the glorious weather, there was nothing not to like here at Lions Row. If you're looking for back to basics, simple (almost) wild camping, this is your ticket. Wonderful views and sounds of nature (watching the rabbits dart about at sunrise was amazing) - topped off by lovely hosts, Charlie and Jess; I had a brilliant stay. The compost loos/chaps urinals and showers all do the job and well placed. Sinks and fresh water available; not much more you can ask for.
