Disliked Unfortunately we were not impressed with this site after seeing the positive reviews. When we arrived there was a large party bastion out a karaoke machine and throwing sticks around. The site was not very well organised and we also found it quite dirty with a lot of litter and fire marks around. The owner seemed to be ok with the nuisance noise and we eventually found a spot flat enough for the tent surrounding by dog mess, fire scorched marks and just general lack of upkeep. I know it’s known as a wild site but it still needs to be maintained and looked after as unfortunately most people don’t know how to leave no trace. So basically it felt like a dirty, no rules, run down piece of land. Also walked to the “local” pub around 45 mins away and was poor too, not much else in the area. Sorry to be harsh but can’t recommend as a campsite for amenities or a wild feel either.

From the manager: Thank you for taking the time to leave both your review and your private feedback. We’re genuinely sorry to hear that your stay didn’t meet your expectations. We completely understand that campers come to enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the countryside. On the evening you visited, one group did have a karaoke machine. We spoke to them and asked them to reduce the noise out of consideration for other guests, and we appreciate your comments as they help us reinforce those expectations in the future. Our campsite is designed to offer a relaxed, back-to-nature experience where guests are free to choose their own pitch rather than being allocated one. While it is a wild camping site, we do take pride in maintaining the land. The campsite is checked daily by the owners, and many of the photographs on our listing have been kindly taken by previous campers, reflecting the experience that most of our guests enjoy. We’re sorry to hear that you found litter, fire marks and dog mess during your stay. We actively encourage all guests to respect the countryside and leave no trace, although unfortunately not everyone does. We will continue to monitor the site closely and address any issues as quickly as possible. Regarding the local area, we’re fortunate to be in a peaceful rural location with many walking routes and places of interest nearby, although we appreciate that everyone’s expectations and experiences are different. Thank you again for your honest feedback. We’re always looking for ways to improve while preserving the natural, informal character that many of our returning guests value.
