Non-electric grass tent pitch (solo)
Liked I loved this campsite. I stayed an extra night. It's just the sweet spot of having basic things in place but still just lovely and rural.
I was travelling without a car. It would definitely be easier with a vehicle. The shop about a mile down the road in Pen y cae has a bit of a limited selection and there wasn't much fresh food. There's a great little store in Coelbren.
I went riding with the local stables. I am a novice. I paid to go up on the mountains for two hours. It was absolutely terrifying at points but I also absolutely loved it. It's a bit pricey but it was an incredible experience.
I thought it might be a bit "passive" but it was nicely scary and breathtakingly beautiful. I had a 5 minute lesson: stop, go, go left, go right, go up like this, go down like that. Amazing 🤩
The local people were so friendly to talk to, and genuinely helpful and kind, as were the site manager and his family.
