Where you should stay in Cornwall

  • Glamping in Cornwall is a great choice if you’re travelling with kids, as there are plenty of family-friendly glamping options with things like a play area on site, and the county is full of fun activities for days out. Action-packed Newquay makes a good base for a family holiday – it’s got beaches and watersports galore, along with a zoo and aquarium for cooler days.

  • Can you take your dog glamping? Of course – just make sure you pick a dog-friendly glampsite. Several of Cornwall’s major attractions welcome dogs, and there are walks galore in this scenic county. Staying near the South West Coast Path gives plenty of options for walks around places like Land’s End or the heritage coast around St Agnes.

  • Cornwall’s coast is famously spectacular, so choosing to go glamping near the beach is a great way to make the most of that seaside scenery. Try the surfing hotspot of Bude if you’re keen to get active, or head to Perranporth for a kid-friendly sandy beach with rockpools and dunes to play in.

  • If you’re celebrating a special occasion, a luxury glamping break is a lovely way to treat your loved one (or yourself) – especially if you can stargaze from a hot tub. To mix up glamping and gourmet food, aim for Padstow, where you can dine in celebrity-owned restaurants before heading back for sundowners on site.

  • The Gulf Stream means that Cornwall’s winter weather tends to be milder than the rest of the UK and several of our sites are open all year, making them a great choice for an off-season break. Winter is the time to warm up by a woodburning stove after windswept beach walks or take advantage of crowd-free visits to popular fishing villages like Fowey or Mevagissey.

  • The Eden Project in Bodelva (not far from St Austell) is one of Cornwall’s real must-sees for all kinds of travellers – it’s easy to fill several hours exploring the different ecosystems in the plant-filled domes, and there are zipwires and assault courses for those who need a little more action.

  • If you’re planning an off-season glamping break it’s a good idea to have some rainy-day options to hand. Art lovers should find plenty to keep them busy in St Ives, including Tate St Ives and the Barbara Hepworth Museum.

  • You’ll need to wrap up warm for an evening at the open-air Minack Theatre, but it’s worth it for the chance to watch a show at this spectacular seaside location built into the cliffs near Porthcurno.

  • For the animal lovers in your party, plan trips to Paradise Park Wildlife Sanctuary, the Cornish Seal Sanctuary and the Tamar Valley Donkey Park – or, if you’re feeling brave, you can go snorkelling with sharks near Penzance.
