Pitches
Pitches

  • Quiet site on the north-east coast between Filey and Scarborough
  • A 15-minute walk from Cayton Bay beach via a traffic-free path
  • Farm shop and café next door; pub 10 minutes' walk away
Some visitors wax lyrical about North Yorkshire’s coastline, while others are rather fonder of its countryside… so it’s handy indeed that you can easily check out both aspects of the county’s scenery during a stay at The Paddock Campsite. This quiet, friendly site is just outside the village of Lebberston, on the coast between Filey and Scarborough (both of which are within a 10-minute drive). For your seaside strolls, a traffic-free path runs down to the sands of Cayton Bay beach – it’ll take you about 15 minutes to get down to the beach, a wide bay that welcomes dogs all year round and is popular with birdwatchers, fossil hunters and rockpoolers as well as those seeking coastal walks or days spent on the sand. And for your country ambles, a drive of 15 minutes or so gets you up to the outer edges of the North York Moors National Park – although you can get a decent enough taste of the local scenery with the rural views around the park itself if you're not in the mood to travel far. Handy bonuses for guests at this site are a farm shop and café pretty much next door, and a pub about 10 minutes’ walk away. Barbecues and campfires are permitted on site if you fancy using some of that farm shop produce for alfresco cookery. Firepits are available on site to help with outdoor food prep and keeping warm; other facilities on site include three hot showers, three toilets, a clean water tap and chemical waste disposal facilities.

Liked Relaxed owner. Facilities were clean enough. Wasn't noisy.

1 bedroom camping pod (hot tub)

Liked Lovely location, easy wander to the beaches ,pub nearby if needed& farm shop with lovely foods.
Spacious living area, with kettle, toaster ,microwave & fridge, sofa ,tv , and a separate bedroom. Close to communal bathrooms.
Hot tub was lovely & nice to have an outdoor seating area .

Disliked Some road noise ,and lots of flies getting in. However, fly zapper/spray Inc, and road noise can't be helped- depends how sensitive one is ,really!

Only major issue is the comfort of the beds ,hence losing a point. Could feel every spring on the main bed,and the mattress on sofa has lumps bumps & you can feel the slats...we're used to tent camping, and honestly agreed an air bed IS more comfy !

Primitive grass and earth tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Great walks from the campsite and lovely beach’s with great views

Disliked Very small facilities which got very busy in the morning and evening and often running out of toilet roll and unclean at times. Not a lot of room for the tent pitches, no privacy. Also ground was on a slope for the entire paddock so not great for tents

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: I'm so sorry to see you rated us low.
As you know we had a storm on Friday & High winds on Saturday 11/4.
The tent you refer to, choose a smaller pitch to be near your Campervan due to the exceptional windy conditions. There's ample flat pitches for tents it's just one particular customer choose a shelter on a smaller pitch near you .
The bathroom is checked at 7am & restocked with loo roll/ soap etc ..spare rolls at least 2 extra large rolls are left in each wetroom. We tend not to put too many in each cubicle as people steal them ! ...all showers/ wc etc are cleaned between 10am & 11am & then later in the afternoon. You must have used the facilities in between cleans, as I can assure you we have clean& warm showers with well stocked facilities .

Primitive grass and earth tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Great little campsite. Facilities were great and the service was excellent. I loved that Cayton Bay was a short walk away and a dog friendly pub with an outdoor play was also a short walk. Great driving distance for Filey and Scarborough.

Disliked The only disappointing part was that the road nearby could be noisy at night, but not anything the owners can do about that!

Primitive grass and earth tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Lovely little site , was very quiet during our stay so plenty of space. Toilets and showers clean and tidy. Would live just a changing table for little ones but we managed just fine in the car. Very friendly owner and puppy, perfect for a short stop over and an amazing fry up at the farm shop too.

Disliked Nothing. Returned after a lovely trip last year and all was fine xx

1 bedroom camping pod (hot tub)

Liked The hot tub was amazing, I really enjoyed my time at the Paddock, Rebecca the owner was very helpful and friendly. It is in a lovely spot, views are amazing and it is just a short walk to the beach. There is also a lovely farm shop and a child friendly pub just a short walk from the paddock.

Disliked I feel like im being picky to find something i disliked. I went in February so the shower rooms and floor were quite cold but to be fair it was because of the time of year. It would have been a nice extra to have a toaster in the glamping pod as the farm shop had lovely bread and butter but I couldn't toast it.

Local attractions

This is a most handy spot for getting out to a couple of North Yorkshire’s most loved seaside towns, so plan for days at the beach and animal park in Filey or taking in the castle, Sea Life Centre and Alpamare waterpark in Scarborough (before hitting the beach again, of course). Both are around a 10-minute drive away. For another view on the coast, grab your binoculars and wander quietly to see what’s in residence at RSPB Bempton Cliffs seabird centre (20 minutes’ drive). Or for some days away from the shoreline, head out to meet the creatures at Playdale Farm Park (10 minutes), sample Yorkshire’s first single malt at Spirit of Yorkshire Distillery (15 minutes) or try out the inflatable course and all manner of watersports at North Yorkshire Water Park (20 minutes). Fancy leaving the car behind for the day? Stash the keys somewhere safe and set forth on foot for Cayton Bay beach, Scarborough Fair Collection & Vintage Transport Museum or a dip at Flower of May swimming pool – all are about 15 minutes away on foot.
