Riverside Country Park, Northumberland

This fantastic campsite located in the beautiful Northumberland countryside is the perfect choice for wet weather.  There is a range of indoor activities including an indoor pool, Jacuzzi, games room, lounge bar and restaurant.  For campers who want to avoid a potential leaky tent situation there is the option to stay in a camping pod. 

Pods can sleep up to three people and cost from £25 per night. A two night stay based on arrivals on 15 July costs £80.

Europa Park, Devon

Perfect for groups and those looking for a fun holiday, this park is bursting with excitement, adrenaline and action.  Come rain or shine, visitors will be able to take part in all manner of shenanigans from happy hours and foam parties to karaoke and listening to live music.  There is a games room, indoor pool and takeaway for convenience.  Accommodation options include pods, tents, cocoons and cabins so there is a choice for every type of weather. 

Prices for the ‘glamping’ style units start from £69 for a three-berth glamping cocoon.  Each comes equipped with a heater, digital TV, fridge and kettle.  There is availability throughout July and August with a two-night minimum stay.

The famous weather rhyme dating back to Elizabethan times states:

'St Swithin's day if thou dost rain. For forty days it will remain. St Swithin's day if thou be fair. For forty days 'twill rain nae mair (no more).'
