Local attractions

Only 70 miles from Colorado Springs, the campground is located in the old ranching west, a popular destination for outdoor activities such as hiking, backpacking, mountain biking, fly tying, barbecuing (and napping in the forest). The campground's staff can help you arrange rafting, jeep tours, horseback riding, and mountain climbing excursions within an hour of the ranch. You can also take a day trip into the Sangre de Cristo wilderness. The town of Westcliffe, where the campground is located, is perfectly situated for all kinds of day trips to the Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve, Royal Gorge, Lake Pueblo State Park and the Monarch Mountain ski area. Don't miss a visit to Bishop’s Castle, about 28 miles southeast of Westcliffe: resident Jim Bishop has been building this free and visitor-ready medieval masterpiece by hand since 1969.
