Tired of tightly-spaced abodes when travelling? Roll up to the open space and wide range of facilities at Double Adobe Campground and Shotgun Sports, right on target for roomy stays in a sunny region of historical Arizona.
The campground's Cochise County setting basks in a warm climate, with average temperatures of 80 to 90ºF in summer and 55-60ºF in winter. It's a short drive from the old mining town of Bisbee, named in 2016 as America's Best Historic Small Town by savvy readers of USA Today, and near other historic attractions of the American West including the John Slaughter Ranch and the smelting town of Douglas (for American Westerns, the famed town of Tombstone is about 28 miles away).
In between all that, there's a good selection of things to do at this Arizona base, including a well-stocked library with book exchange, a games room and DVD hire (ask the knowledgeable staff for their top big screen tips).
Other facilities include a big shaded grass recreation space with horseshoe pit, barbecue area and a 20-foot picnic table; free wifi and a clubhouse with full kitchen. And that shooting? Double Adobe has its own shooting grounds, where you can aim your skills at trap shooting, skeet shooting and sporting clays shooting (fees apply).
The bathrooms are separated into ladies' and gents' areas and have hot showers.

Local attractions
This is a spectacular part of the United States, in a desert setting, close to the border with Mexico and peppered with the towns, mines and ranches of the Old West.
As well as the nearby old city of Bisbee (a definite must), Arizona's Old West tale can be seen at the John Slaughter or San Bernardino Ranch, a National Historic Landmark that was once the home of gunfighter John Horton Slaughter.
Going further back, the region's history is also covered at the Native American displays of the Amerind Foundation museum in Dragoon, and the Coronado National Memorial, commemorating the first known expedition from Mexico to America's south-west.
Active days are easily found around here too, such as hiking the spectacular rocks of the Chiricahua National Monument, or clambering around the Dragoon Mountains and their highest point Mount Glenn. From here you can also drive up to the Cochise Stronghold, 5,000 feet high in the Coronado National Forest.
Golf? Tackle traditional teeing off as well as desert golf at Douglas Golf and Social Club, one of the oldest courses in Arizona and the inaugural winner of the regional Golf Club of the Year Award in 2016.

Well first off the sign on the door said We are out in the park call 520-364-4000 for assistances. You never called you went and parked. You was told that you could move into a 30 amp site for the lower rate your reply was that you was hooked up and was not moving. Your friend (Joan H) that came in the day before you knew there was a different prices and she was the one getting argumentative with Norma you never said anything to either my self Roy or Norma when you was checking in. So (Beth C.) I do not understand this review you did not book a site through Pitch Up but you want to give a Negative review on there web site. there was other camper in the office when this all took place they even spoke to both you and your friend about Passport America that you was complaining that no one took there discount this time of year.
And I definitely do not believe your story about dog poop and why give a review Anonymous own what you say Beth C!!!!
Roy.
