  • Neatly kept and family-friendly site on the outskirts of Olite
  • A 15-minute drive from Valdorba valley and half an hour from Pamplona
  • Bar, restaurant, pool, sports courts and organised entertainment
Embrace endless entertainment on an escape to Navarre – whether you prefer spending a hol dipping in and out of a pool or navigating cultural hotspots like Pamplona (half an hour’s drive) – with a break at Camping De Olite. While being a cinch to get to from the home of the famed bull-running festival, the site’s also on the outskirts of Olite, a royal seat during the Middle Ages with handsome streets to amble along. Admire the architecture in town, taking a break for lunch and dinner in one of the traditional Spanish restaurants, or head back to base for meals made from veggies grown in the garden at the restaurant and bar. Accompany your food with one of the local wines on offer, then settle in for some shows: there’s a programme of events organised in the evenings as well as during the daytime for both kids and adults at this park. For alternative activities while it’s still light out, unfurl your picnic blanket in one of the communal green areas, perhaps near the tennis and basketball courts or football field to supervise the sprogs as they challenge each other to games. Younger members of your travel tribe can also get out onto the play area, which has a sandpit, climbing frames and slides.

Local attractions

Roaming to the Royal Palace of Olite is one of the first things on the agenda during a trip to this part of Navarre, as is a tour of the town’s gothic-style Santa María la Real church (both 10 minutes’ drive). Stick around for an afternoon of sampling beverages at the Bodegas Ochoa winery, or learn more about viniculture at the Museo del Vino de Navarra museum (10 minutes). If the countryside’s calling, venture to the Valdorba valley (15 minutes) then combine town times with staring at stunning scenery in Ujué (25 minutes), a hilltop settlement with heart-stopping views over the surrounding plateau. San Martín de Unx (15 minutes), meanwhile, has masses of medieval architecture to admire, as well as ruins of old town walls and a Roman road. Linger in the narrow streets or set off on leafy walks through holm oak, dwarf evergreen oak and juniper bush groves in the nearby hills. For more scenery, stroll through the Senda Viva nature park (35 minutes) before bringing your break to an end with a drive past the strange rock formations in the dusty, desert-like Bardenas Reales reserve (50 minutes).

Electric grass and earth pitch

Liked: Nothing

Disliked: Upon entering this dump you Drive through a shanty town to muddy field, no water barrel filling tap, no waste water area, no toilet waste area, nowhere for rubbish, nowhere for recycling. The electric hook up couldn’t cope with boiling a kettle, kept tripping, wifi didn’t work. This is the most expensive site we have encountered so far and by far the worst. DON’T RISK IT🤬
