Whether you’re seeking an overnight stopover for your van or looking for somewhere to settle for a few days of rural peace, the touring pitches at Área Autocaravanas Granja Casecha are in an excellent position for a Galicia getaway. This quiet touring site is part of a farm about 15 minutes’ drive inland from Ribadeo, and it’s a highly peaceful spot for a break, however long you’re staying. Pitches here are on the banks of a river and entirely surrounded by rural views, and they have access to all the essential facilities including toilets, showers, wifi, a washing machine and chemical disposal. Dogs are welcome as long as they’re kept under control at all times. The farm isn’t just pretty to look at, of course – it’s also a very productive place. The owners are very active in growing all sorts of vegetables, which you can purchase on site or from the market stalls in Ribadeo (usually Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays, but it’s worth checking the latest hours locally). Either way, barbecues and campfires are permitted on site so you’ll be able to cook your haul over the grill. Touring pitches are in a separate area from the main growing area, but it’s worth remembering that this is still a working farm so if you’re taking a walk around you’ll need to make sure that you’re not interfering with the normal operation of the place (and that kids are kept safely away from any machinery).

Liked: I cannot praise this site and it’s owner enough. The site was a rural retreat, with many facilities needed for a small camper van like ours. We were only two or three motor vans on the site, so the bathroom facilities were very clean and great. If we needed to there was a room to eat or go on computers with. However it was the absolute help and kindness of the owner when we were in greatest need. Our van broke down He sorted the garage out for us and physically went to check we were ok there. He could not do enough to make our stay as less stressful as possible. Without his help with Spanish interpretations we would have found the task of getting the van repaired extremely difficult. Liked: A beautiful place near the Bay of Biscay. Good located. Less than half an hour to Playa as Cathedrais. Very friendly people at the campsite. Well-kept place. Clean sanitary facilities. Some donkeys were calling once in the evening, and I liked that. That's kind of a sound you don't hear here nowadays every day.

Liked: Las mesas a lado del rio donde se permite hacer barbacoa. Las parcelas de hierba y las vistas al rededor La pareja que lleva el camping son super simpáticos

Disliked: Los baños - totalmente caóticos. Solo hay 2 (1 para mujer / 1 para hombre) - como la ducha, retrete y lavabo esta encerado en un cuarto, solo se permite el uso de una persona individual. Asi que, si necesitas hacer tus cosas y hay una persona duchándose, hay que esperar que salga... o peor ponerte en la cola para esperar tu turno ya que por la manana todos tenemos las mismas necesidades básicas y se forma largas colas para poder entrar que el algo muy incomodo. Y peor, se instalaron la maquina de lavar ropa en lo de la mujer y la secadora en lo del hombre. Esos deberían estar en una zona separada.

Local attractions

Seeing a bit more of the rural scenery may well involve setting out on foot – local walks can take you to intriguing sights like Pozo de Lexoso waterfall (half an hour’s walk) or viewpoints on Monte Mondigo and Monte Comado. There are plenty of things to see on a stroll around Ribadeo (15 minutes’ drive) too – the Old Town has lots of historic buildings to admire, and there’s usually a good spread to shop from at the markets. You can also walk over to Praia de Rocas Brancas in about half an hour for coastal views and beach time. Elsewhere along the coast, stunning beaches like Praia do Castros and As Catedrais beach are about 15 minutes’ drive directly from the site. For a more urban day out, it’s about an hour and 15 minutes’ drive to Lugo, where you can see the best-preserved Roman walls in Europe, see the fabulous Domus Oceani mosaic and visit the cathedral and the Roman baths; it’s also a well-known hub of excellent restaurants serving local seafood and meats.

Admission

Admission is only permitted after registering at reception.
All guests spending the night at the park must present their ID at the reception desk and sign registration forms.
Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Arrivals and departures

Late arrivals must notify the park as soon as possible. Your booking will be held for 24 hours. After this period the management reserves the right to relet your unit.
No refunds/discounts for inclement weather, late arrivals or early departures.
Please pick any available pitch on arrival.
Units will be allocated on arrival.

Dogs

Dogs are prohibited from main facilities and amenities.
Dogs must be kept on leads and supervised at all times.

Extras

A charge of €1.00 (£0.85) applies for the use of the shower.

General

In the event of a complaint, please speak to reception immediately. Complaints which are not brought to the management's attention during your stay cannot be dealt with once you have left the site.
Public areas are non-smoking.
Quiet hours must be respected between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m..
Radio, music and TV players must be kept at a low volume. Car doors and boots must be closed quietly.
