Whether you’re seeking an overnight stopover for your van or looking for somewhere to settle for a few days of rural peace, the touring pitches at Área Autocaravanas Granja Casecha are in an excellent position for a Galicia getaway. This quiet touring site is part of a farm about 15 minutes’ drive inland from Ribadeo, and it’s a highly peaceful spot for a break, however long you’re staying. Pitches here are on the banks of a river and entirely surrounded by rural views, and they have access to all the essential facilities including toilets, showers, wifi, a washing machine and chemical disposal. Dogs are welcome as long as they’re kept under control at all times. The farm isn’t just pretty to look at, of course – it’s also a very productive place. The owners are very active in growing all sorts of vegetables, which you can purchase on site or from the market stalls in Ribadeo (usually Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays, but it’s worth checking the latest hours locally). Either way, barbecues and campfires are permitted on site so you’ll be able to cook your haul over the grill. Touring pitches are in a separate area from the main growing area, but it’s worth remembering that this is still a working farm so if you’re taking a walk around you’ll need to make sure that you’re not interfering with the normal operation of the place (and that kids are kept safely away from any machinery).

Local attractions

Seeing a bit more of the rural scenery may well involve setting out on foot – local walks can take you to intriguing sights like Pozo de Lexoso waterfall (half an hour’s walk) or viewpoints on Monte Mondigo and Monte Comado. There are plenty of things to see on a stroll around Ribadeo (15 minutes’ drive) too – the Old Town has lots of historic buildings to admire, and there’s usually a good spread to shop from at the markets. You can also walk over to Praia de Rocas Brancas in about half an hour for coastal views and beach time. Elsewhere along the coast, stunning beaches like Praia do Castros and As Catedrais beach are about 15 minutes’ drive directly from the site. For a more urban day out, it’s about an hour and 15 minutes’ drive to Lugo, where you can see the best-preserved Roman walls in Europe, see the fabulous Domus Oceani mosaic and visit the cathedral and the Roman baths; it’s also a well-known hub of excellent restaurants serving local seafood and meats.

Liked Me gustó mucho la zona de la parcela, tenía un césped muy cómodo. Las duchas y baños estaban bastante limpios para el uso que tenían. Tenían una tienda con productos de la tierra y caseros que estaba muy bien para comprar alguna cosa para cenar y demás
