Welcoming guests since 1986 and run by a British-Spanish family, Camping Alegría del Mar in Castellon is a friendly place with plenty of facilities to entertain guests. The seaside park runs dance, live music and flamenco shows, as well as activities like bingo, barbecue nights and pétanque tournaments – but if you prefer to stay still and bask, the nearest beach is just 50 metres away and can be accessed directly from the site. A long stay then? Good idea. Food is sorted at the Camping Alegría del Mar bar-restaurant and terrace, which cooks up a decent range of international foods like paellas, tapas, sandwiches, pizzas and burgers. The site is in Benicarló, within 20 minutes' walk of grocery shops and plenty of other restaurants. If you're wondering what else there is to do in the locale aside from beaches, the Serra d'Irta Natural Park and Castell de Santa Magdalena de Polpís are only half an hour's drive away. Serra del Montsià, a mountain range with gorgeous hikes, is a 35-minute drive in the other direction.

Liked It was a return visit that perhaps says it was a site we liked. Restaurant offers good value food and is a particular attraction compared to other sites. The site is clean and facilities looked after. The Internet was quite good. This is a site more suitable for adults as it does not possess the facilities offered by many for children. If you want a peaceful stay with a good restaurant and friendly staff it is ideal.

Disliked It was a long walk to dispose of rubbish. The beach is u fortunately rather stoney but still used quite a bit.

Liked Nice pitch, handy having a wash basin on pitch. Staff very nice. Well stocked shop. Stopped one night on our way north.

Disliked A little noisy , cars moving around and people very loud at 1.30am. WiFi useless.
