What a gorgeous setting this Catalonia and Costa Brava park has… tucked away on the Empordà plain and 20 minutes’ drive from the sea for days of beach basking and watersports, countryside hiking and bike rides, and nature spotting at three natural parks within an hour's drive… you might want to book for quite some time. This splendid state of affairs is at Camping Rural Montori, a secluded and spacious site with tree-lined grounds and friendly staff, a couple of minutes' drive from Ultramort and 15 from Torroella de Montgrí. The team has provided everything a family might need for a laidback stay: there’s a pair of seawater swimming pools, one of which is designed for littler swimmers (and fenced to prevent wandering), and a playground with a trampoline and ping pong table next to a sports area with goals, a basketball hoop and kids’ archery equipment. Whatever the kids are up to, keep an eye from the terrace outside the semi-covered multiuse hall, which has machines vending snacks and drinks, a TV and outdoor seating. This is also where you’ll find sinks and a shared area of volcanic stone barbecues: try grilling the local sausage, botifarra… A couple of eating and drinking options are in nearby Ultramort and many more, plus supermarkets and bakeries, in Torroella de Montgrí.

Disliked Hühner laufen frei herum und scheißen alles voll man kann nichts heraus stehen lassen ohne dass es voll geschissen ist.Besser wäre es doch sie einzuräunen. Viele Katzen 🐱 sind auch hier. Es gibt nur Einzel Duschen die sind sehr ekelig und werden nur einmal am Tag gereinigt Die Mülleimer waren 2 Tage lang voll.

Liked Muy buena relación calidad-precio. Todo muy tranquilo. La piscina, alrededores y gallinas también genial.

Disliked El estado de las duchas y los lavabos. Bastantes lavabos funcionaban mal (uno faltaba botones de la cisterna y se encallaba) y la ducha cae a cuenta gotas.

Torroella is a handy hub for many of the walking routes that crisscross this fine region: for a short but intense trip, take the trails out of town to the unfinished Montgri castle, almost indistinguishable from the rocky crags around it, then on for spcatacular views from the Coll de la Creu de Santa Caterina. Take your pick beachwise from well-tended strips with sun loungers like Platja de Pals (25 minutes' drive) to deserted coves to stretch your towels out on rocks; paths go all the way down the coast and out onto the wild peninsulas of Punta des Mut and Punta des Burro (40 minutes). Another good way to scope out hidden beaches is to hire kayaks from the many watersports shacks. For nature spotting and more hiking, the inland Albera Natural Park (50 minutes) is a mountainous mix of cork forests, and prehistoric megaliths, while the coastal parks of Aiguamolls de l'Empordà and Cap de Creus (half an hour and an hour away) are a contrast of cliffs and coves, prairies and wetlands. Finally, it's 40 minutes to Girona for markets, Jewish and Moorish history brought to life in buildings and alleyways, museums and mighty good xuixo pastries.
