General

  • Coastal site in the famed and scenic bay of Santa Maria de Llorell
  • Direct access to four sandy beaches including one for naturists
  • Bar-restaurant with terrace and spectacular sea views

Sandy times in Spain – how easily sorted they are from this smashing site.

Award-winning Cala Llevadó just outside Tossa de Mar has direct access to four (sí, four) sandy Girona beaches, so close that smashing sea views come as standard from all around the grounds. This is the sort of sunny area where you may want to work mostly on the colour of your beach bod, so those with a horror of tan lines should be mighty chuffed to learn that one of the four beaches is naturist; just do, of course, remember the sunscreen...

Once clothes are donned again, facilities at Cala Llevadó are excellent for days just pottering around site: There's a roomy and pretty pool and paddling pool for guests too (sí, also with spectacular views); playgrounds to further occupy the offspring, and sporty areas for basketball and table tennis. Arrange to spend several hours (daily) at the bar-restaurant, to soak up the spectacular views over the sea from the terrace – perhaps while any offspring between five and 12 are off adventuring via the many activities of the summer kids' club...? Evening entertainment for all ages runs in summer at the amphitheatre area beside the restaurant.

For those occasional times you're not drinking in views from the site restaurant, the big and well-stocked supermarket should have most of what you need for picnics and snacks, and the shops and restaurants of Tossa de Mar are three and a half kilometres away by the coastal path or five kilometres by car.

Please note

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act and/or any of the following: Staffordshire bull terrier, American Staffordshire terrier, Rottweiler, any Mastiff or Tosa.

The outdoor swimming pool is open between 26/03 and 26/09 (subject to weather conditions).

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

No hen/stag parties permitted via Pitchup.com.

We are not a naturist campsite but we have direct access to a nudist beach.

Facilities, location, pitches a good size and easy to use, helpful staff, excellent washing and toilet facilities, well kept and clean.

    Disliked:

The restaurant opened at 18:00 we sat down at approx 18:15 and ordered the chicken, and was amazed when the waitress told me there would be a 2 hour wait. This was because the chicken was spit roasted and they had just been put on to cook.surely if the restaurant opened at 18:00 the chicken should have been put on at 16:00. Other people who ordered the chicken were likewise dissapointed. Thechef should start at 16:00 to ensure that the chicken is ready at opening time

The view from our tent was beautiful and listening to the waves was magical.
Very clean shower block and swimming pool.
Supermarket had everything you could need at half decent prices.

    Disliked:

The waitresses at bar/restaurant seemed unhappy to be there and also serve us.
One morning I got given a normal milk coffee when I had asked for soya, I am lactose intolerant as well as a vegan. After waiting so long to be served I couldn't be bothered to complain and I also was afraid of the reaction I would have got.
There's not a lot of choice on the over priced menu.
First night stay a bunch of teenagers were partying on the beach below us from 7pm-12am and were also smashing glasses, I walked the 7 minute walk uphill (with the guy who was staying next to us) to inform the receptionist at the time and ask him to tell them to move a long (as parties are not permitted) he seemed extremely annoyed that WE had caused him inconvenience, he was very rude and made us feel like we were in the wrong to want to have a quiet nights sleep listening to the waves rather than music and shouting. Although he did go down, he only asked them to keep it down. They continued on another part of the beach and woke us up at all hours that night.
On a Sunday a football tournament was being held opposite the campsite, we were unaware until they all came over and used the pool. The children were jumping, bombing, diving, shouting, splashing and also kicked my partner in the face. The lifeguard done nothing as he was too busy on his phone!
A worker (who apparently is from a different company) completely patronised me as I was parking. He gave me a round of an applause as I parked my car with no problems and then as I got back in he stopped what he was working on to then continue to watch me reverse out while shouting at me.
Overall I felt that we were stared at, looked down on and hardly ever saw a happy friendly face. I would not return or recommend which is a shame as the campsite itself is beautiful and being so close to the sea is magical. The staff and people completely ruin it though.

Local attractions

Cala Llevadó is in the spectacular and famed bay of Santa Maria de Llorell, rightly hailed as one of the prettiest places on the Costa Brava. Snorkelling, scuba diving, windsurfing, waterskiing, kayaking and banana boating are all close by, along with mountain hikes and mountain biking for landlubbers around the Girona foothills of the Pyrenees.

Hike to Tossa de Mar from the site along the Camí de Ronda (GR 92) coastal path, on a viewsome route that should take about 45 minutes (another, tougher, route running alongside the sea and worth it for the splendid sea views should have you in town in about two hours). As well as the beaches, Tossa time should include tours of the town on the blue and white tourist train, and rides on the green and white train up to the top of the old fort next to the beach; pick up info on these and on the fab local walks at the Tossa tourist office.

For day trips, Girona is 55 minutes' drive away; Figureres an hour and 15 minutes, and Barcelona an hour and 25.
