Time for a trip to the seaside? Set on the spectacular Costa del Maresme, Camping Bell Sol is right next to the sea in Pineda de Mar, a town with a three-kilometre-long sandy beach. The site also has plenty in the way of family entertainment – even outside of peak season, there is a playground, ping pong tables and a football pitch, and during July and August, there's a packed activity programme of family activities, live entertainment and outdoor games. From May to September (subject to weather conditions), the site opens up an outdoor pool with summer aqua gym classes too. As evening falls, head to the site bar for a boozy beverage or two. Just off site (a few minutes' walk away), you could also go for a sandy stroll along the town's beach. The site restaurant is closed on weekday evenings, but Pineda de Mar has an excellent selection of restaurants, tapas bars and family-run seafood restaurants serving up reasonably priced local dishes. The nightlife is laidback here too; if you're after a more upbeat night out, just nip over to the neighbouring resort of Lloret de Mar. In high season, the site's foodie facilities have things pretty well covered as well: pick up your morning bread from the bakery to fuel up ahead of a coffee at the café, or choose to be waited on at the light and airy restaurant. Facilities on site also include a launderette and heated bathrooms with showers, soap and shampoo, hairdryers and hand dryers.

Liked Sehr schöner Campingplatz mit sauberen Sanitäranlagen. Wir haben uns hier gleich sehr wohl gefühlt. Der Platz liegt mitten im Ort und trotzdem ruhig. Wir sind hier Fahrrad gefahren. Personal sehr freundlich.

Local attractions

Camping Bell Sol is well placed for beach and city days out, as well as the occasional jaunt up into the mountains. The main beach of Pineda de Mar, accessed via an underpass opposite the site entrance, is a gorgeous stretch of golden sand, which even in the height of summer doesn’t get too overcrowded. From here, scuba divers can take a trip out to the Medes Islands, a protected maritime area where the scuba diving is rumoured to be rather outstanding. The seaside towns of Malgrat de Mar (15 minutes' drive), Blanes (20 minutes) and Lloret de Mar (25 minutes) are all easy enough to reach by driving north along the coast, and the larger coastal spots of Mataró (25 minutes), Badalona (35 minutes) and Barcelona (40 minutes) are all to the south. Girona is also 45 minutes' drive away. As you're also around an hour's drive from two huge natural parks – Sierra de Marina and Collserola – hiking and mountain biking trails around the area's forests and hillsides are easy to get to from here too.
