  • Close to the Ordesa y Monte Perdido National Park
  • Mountain setting and spectacular scenery, 300 metres from Viu de Linás
  • Playground, mini market and bar-restaurant with terrace
A site with a view (or two)... the pics of Camping Viu are so pretty you could hang them on your office wall. It's a site set in a meadow and surrounded by forest, in the Pyrenees part of Aragon's Huesca province and a few minutes' drive from the smashingly scenic Ordesa y Monte Perdido National Park. This is a place for nature spotters and mountain fans, for hikers and cyclists, and for those who just like to sit and stare at splendid scenery... do have a look at the site pics... Camping Viu has modern facilities including a bar-restaurant with a big terrace, a playground and a mini market; there's also a laundry room and an amenities block with hot water. Wifi is available at reception and at the terrace of the bar.

Liked: La atención de las trabajadoras del bar. Muy amables.

Disliked: El trato de recepcionista a la hora de dar explicaciones, muy desagradable. Teníamos la sensación de que molestabamos.

Electric optional grass motorhome pitch

Liked: Spotless facilities. Good washing-up area, clothes washing area, and drying rack. Plenty of hot water. My husband dealt with reception - they were friendly and welcoming. We didn’t visit the bar/restaurant. Lots of good walks in the area.

Disliked: No loo roll in toilets - you had to estimate the amount you needed and take from the dispenser before entering a cubicle! No soap or hand drying at sinks. Lights on a timer which made showering interesting. Inadequate screening from shower so risk of clothes getting splashed. Shower heads need cleaned. Pitches on a slope, and very boggy. Electric point was 35m away from our pitch - luckily we had enough cable to reach. Lots of statics on site, none of which looked cared for - an overall depressing vibe.

Electric optional grass motorhome pitch

Liked: The setting is incredible. There are the most amazing mountain views. The toilet/shower/wash block is in very good condition and kept very clean.

Disliked: The ground is very uneven. We were there in February and it was also soaked. There were only two usable pitches on the day we arrived.Every other one was too muddy to park in. Our campervan was getting stuck. The site is full of unoccupied motorhomes and caravans (in the winter season). But the sites are tightly packed. The owner is unpleasant and gruff. There are lots of amazing walks in the area, but no information about them and difficult to access from the site. There is another campsite in Gavín a short drive away and near walks and a great town (Biescas) that is worth driving on to instead. If the owners could even out the pitches and sort out the drainage this would be worth it. As it is, it is very costly for what is on offer.

Electric optional grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Good amount of trees .. so there was shade. That is the only plus.

Disliked: Where do I start. The ground is very uneven, exposed sites very close to each other. The bar and restaurant is weirdly managed, food not available, they sometimes only take cash and sometimes only card (?). Don’t expect to get fed here, you will have to drive to Torla. You can get cold drinks in bar though and the little shop on site with basics. Owners are the real problem, extremely rude, no manners and they stare at you. It is not welcoming at all. I wish I had booked a different site and spent money elsewhere. Do NOT stay here.

Electric optional grass motorhome pitch

Liked: Washroom facilities were good - lots of hot water.

Disliked: We did not have a good experience here. As the grass pitches were waterlogged we were asked to pitch on a gravel road right next to the steps of the washroom, which was far from level. However, there were other places we could have pitched. Owner had little English, but more importantly he had little interest in helping us (wouldn't engage with us at all about how to use the washing machine). The bar/restaurant on site seems to serve mostly local workmen and hunters (several carcasses were seen with them). However there was no noise from the bar.

Local attractions

Mountain biking, bungee jumping (if you dare), horse riding, paragliding, canyoning, rafting and canoeing are all available in the area along with the walking trails, bike rides, waterfalls and spectacular scenery of the Ordesa y Monte Perdido National Park. The valleys and towns of Bujaruelo and Otal are 30 and 40 minutes' drive away. Around the site's Sobrarbe region, have a day out at district capital Boltaña to see its mountaintop 11th-century castle and the Aragonese Gothic and 16th-century Collegiate Church of San Pedro, one of the biggest churches in this part of the Pyrenees. Venturing further, another 11th-century castle is at Ainsa (an hour and 15 minutes), along with a 12th-century church, a handsome main square and the House of Culture, home to the biggest library in the Aragonese Pyrenees. For towns and culture, try the Romanesque churches of the villages of the Serrablo (40 minutes), the jolly pretty town of Jaca and its medieval walls (50 minutes) and the monastery of San Juan de la Peña with its church partly carved into the cliff, an hour and 15 minutes away.
