General

  • Set on the beachfront a few steps from the sea
  • A 20-minute drive from Málaga
  • Pool, garden, barbecue area and bar-restaurant

It's but a few steps to the water from Camping Valle Niza Playa: you'll be dipping your toes almost before you've even set off.

Set on the Costa de la Axarquia, the campsite is in a splendidly sensible setting on the beachfront, in a peaceful place but only 20 minutes from all the party places of Málaga; if you want a serene Spanish stay but to be close to all the facilities of the province capital, this is the place to have it. (Or if you want to mix Málaga with mountains, as Málaga's highest peak Almijara is easily accessible for day trips too.)

The site pool is open all year round and is surrounded by a roomy garden for lazy days lounging about. There's also a barbecue area, a playground, games and TV rooms, and a bar-restaurant for meals and drinks.

Camping Valle Niza Playa has spacious pitches, spread over a large area of woodland. Its recently built amenities blocks are supplied with constant hot water.

The smallness of the site not too far to walk to facilities.
The menu del dia at €9 incl drink was excellent and good value.
The site had a great location right across from beach

    Disliked:

The shower was a step down/up into a cubicle with no hand rails, there was nowhere to hang towels etc or places to put toiletries, you had to keep your hand on the hot water button all the time so it was freeze and wash hair etc with two hands or have hot water and use one hand. Was unsure about the cleanliness of the shower floor it did look dirty but there was only natural light to see by.
The pitches were small with no privacy but did have awnings which was good because our awning would not have fitted in fact if we parked the car parallel to the caravan we could not have accessed the caravan.
    Service at bar was slow.
The pool was not a walk in hand rails only so if you can't climb in/out then forget about swimming. Was closed mid-afternoon for 3 hours.

A nice, small site with a mix a touring and permanent pitches. Pitches separated by hedges and shaded with fabric canopies. Quiet during the week, but did get much busier at weekends.
    Friendly, helpful reception area.
Nice pool area, lifeguard at weekends, only a few sun beds.
    Bar and restaurant reasonably priced.
Bus stops on road outside so easy to travel to Malaga or Torre de Mar by bus.

    Disliked:

No onsite shop for fresh bread
No access to the bar area from the pool.
    No shops within walking distance

Abundance of hot water, close to Malaga and the Mountain regions ,Peaceful but only from Mon to Fri !

    Disliked:

Weekends were hell.....The Spanish arrive to party at there run down and decapitated fixed Parcelas !..
With all manner of electric children's bikes and quads, beat boxes, oh, and there barking dogs ...... We complained twice to the poor reception girl but she did nothing ( to be fair she couldn't it was out of control ) we asked to see the manager on the Monday but he didn't grace us either !

It was so out of control the weekend 12th May that the police had were in attendance, for two hours it was quite, then when they left music and drunken singing resumed until the early hours .

If you like a party and allow kids to do whatever they wish , it's the place for you ...

Reception: Friendly and helpful. Gave us a map of the site with vacant pitches highlighted and advised us to locate our preferred choice.
Toilets & Showers: Regularly cleaned and were spotless. Showers were excellent hot and cold water and very good pressure. Two facilities located front and rear of the site
Washing area: Hot running water for dishes & washing machine - again clean and tidy. No sink plugs - maybe that's normal we are new to touring.
Location: Right next to the Mediterranean sea. Benajarafe a 20 min walk away although on a busy road.
Restaurant: We did not eat, but it was popular with other tourers. The bar staff were very friendly and prices were reasonable.
Dog: We had one, and they were very 'dog friendly'

    Disliked:

The road outside the front entrance can be busy - it is the main coastal route to Malaga. This was more noticeable to us as we had a pitch near the main entrance.

Local attractions

Camping Valle Niza Playa is in the town of Benajarafe, a few steps from the beach and four kilometres from Torre del Mar. Buses to/from Málaga and Granada run 200m from the site.

The seaside resort of Torre del Mar, between the Mediterranean Sea and the Sierra Nevada mountains, is a tad more traditional Spain than many of the busier and bigger resorts on the Costa del Sol so is a good option for a slightly quieter seaside day.

Axarquía comarca capital and market city Vélez is six kilometres away and again has a less touristy vibe than a lot of this part of the Costa del Sol. Its main sights are the thirteenth century Moorish castle, the Arrabal de San Sebastián old quarters with sixteenth and seventeenth century mansions, and the fifteenth century church of Santa María la Mayor.

Also around the area, go karting is available three kilometres away, a waterpark within six, and the golf course in Añoreta within seven. The clubs, 15 beaches and 28 museums of Málaga are within 24 kilometres and the hiking and skiing of the Sierra Nevada are about 130 kilometres away.
