Dog-friendly site with a community feel in the Almeria province

With a bowling green, regular special nights in the bar-restaurant and a pool for paddles and late afternoon cocktails, there’s a community feel at Camping Los Gallardos in the Almeria province. With all those opportunities for relaxation on site, you’ll be set up nicely for adventure elsewhere, whether it’s kayaking and snorkelling around the coast, hiking or taking in the traditional way of life in the mountain villages of Mojácar (15 minutes’ drive), Bédar (15 minutes) or Lubrín (half an hour). Comfortable and modern are some of the words that might come to mind at this site. The place is divided up into a series of terraces with plenty of trees, shrubs and hedges, which make it feel nice and private. In the toilet and shower block, you’ll have hot water to look forward to after visits to beaches such as Playa de Mojácar (15 minutes’ drive). If it’s a small meal or snack that’s on your mind first, the on-site shop is open daily and sells necessities like fresh bread, eggs, milk, fresh fruit or veg and UK newspapers. With the site’s bar-restaurant (named Miraflores) for regular special nights and tasty meals across several menus, you won’t go hungry. Wifi is available in the restaurant, and there are further connections across the site. Other facilities on site include a laundry facility, washing-up sinks and a chemical point for toilets. If you’d like to try your hand at bowling, the site is also connected to a bowling green, where short-term memberships with access to bowling events are available for guests. On Tuesdays, the site (in conjunction with the town hall) also runs a free shuttle bus to the weekly market in Los Gallardos – so potter around in your free time. Golf courses are 10 to 15 minutes’ drive out for more peaceful activities.

Liked: Size of pitch, cleanliness of toilet block, bar/ restaurant and shop on site

Disliked: Had Xmas Dinner in restaurant which was good but lacked a bit of Xmas atmosphere. Pianist was ok but should have played more upbeat tunes to create an atmosphere . I appreciate, however, that Miraflores run the restaurant so not really anything to do with the site.

Liked: Todo el camping es genial,zona juego niñoa,piscina,restaurante y charter de 9 a 21h ideal en el dia a dia .Parcelas de grava y rodeada de naturaleza , sólo asfalto en las calles de acceso al recinto.

Disliked: Por decir algo , no como crítica ,sino como mejora. La zona de los baños están reformadas , pero el acceso desde los fregaderos están algo obsoletas las instalaciones . Seguro que a corto plazo están remodelados porque estaban mejorando y ampliando parcelas.

Liked: Had a wonderful 4 night stay, the campsite was clean and well organised, the pitch was of a very good size, had the caravan and awning out and still had loads of room for the car, very friendly and helpfull staff as were the residents, great supermarket, the restaurant food was first class so was the entertainment, in fact we enjoyed ourselves so much we booked for xmas & new year.

Liked: Loved size of plot ideal for toilets,swimming pool bar restaurant and shop. Entertainment was enjoyable and all the staff we met were really nice and helpful thanks very much.

Liked: The price is very good,club and swimming pool very good,shop staff very helpful,the site in general is very clean,electricity well priced,the shower and toilet block was always clean. Now some points that could be improved. The disabled toilet and shower could be larger,also the shower head is too high,not easily reached,perhaps a adjustable height and detachable so when sitting as most disabled people have too you can wash yourself with ease,a much better seat is required and reachable hooks to hang close,more thought should have been given to this area. The piches are large but very uneven. The WiFi is very slow could be much better. Also no evidence of night security i arrived at 3-30 am and drove in and right up to the club had a look around no one about drove out and parked out side until daylight.

Disliked: Although advertised as dog friendly we couldn’t go for a drink because there was no access for dogs in that area - I can understand not letting them near the pool but it might be an idea to have an outside area section where dogs are allowed ?

Local attractions

Find your way to peaceful beaches and wild coastal landscapes in the Cabo de Gata Natural Park… with especially scenic stretches of sand at Playa de Mónsul (an hour's drive) Playa de los Genoveses (an hour) and Los Muertos beach (40 minutes), you’ll be free to snorkel, swim, sail, hike or fish as you please. If you’d rather switch the beach for hiking and wild swimming, head to Nacimiento del Rio Aguas (20 minutes). There are many spectacular places to hike around this area, that’s for sure. You could challenge yourself to steeper climbs along Cerro de La Mezquita (40 minutes), explore the area around the Iglesia de Teresa (20 minutes) church or get ready for views of the hills, mountainside roads and the sea from Mirador De La Granatilla (35 minutes).

Admission is only permitted after registering at reception.
All guests spending the night at the park must present their ID at the reception desk and sign registration forms.
Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Dogs
