An Amsterdam break… but without the noise, crowds and expense that come with city centre stays? If that sounds like quite the combo, take a look at EuroParcs Het Amsterdamse Bos, a peaceful North Holland site surrounded by woodland, canals and open spaces in the 2,500-acre Amsterdam Forest, 10 minutes’ drive from Amstelveen. Although you might not guess it from the gorgeous green surrounds (which lend themselves well to strolls, swims, bike rides and canoe trips), the site is just eight kilometres from Amsterdam’s city centre. Arguably the best way to get there (and to blend in with the locals) is to hire bikes on site and pedal off along a cycle lane through the Vondelpark to the city’s central attractions in around half an hour or so. For those who prefer to save their muscle power for meandering around museums, it’s also easy to ride into the centre via public transport – a bus stop is just outside the site, and there’s a metro station within walking distance as well. Handily, there’s also a direct bus to Schiphol airport (around 20 minutes away) for easy getaways by air or connecting with trains to other Dutch cities. Back at base, lots of essential facilities are sorted, including a shop and a launderette; there’s also a spacious bathroom block with plenty of toilets and showers.

Liked The area is beautiful. Large pitches. Electric hook up not too expensive (€2,50 for three days with a large coolbox on high constantly and phones charging), close to toilet block which is clean, one washer and dryer in each men's and women's shower block (credit/debit card activated), microwave in shower block, coffee machine and panini maker available to use in shop, sells check in option after reception closes (emailed instructions for locker), cats eye technology for vehicle recognition, close to major Amsterdam trunk route. Make sure to add 'CAMPING' amstedamse bos to your satnav or you're visiting the actual forest🤦

Disliked The facilities are poor. The shop and reception are only open 9-5, bike hire the same. No bar/restaurant. The shop is expensive. A lot of pitches that appear to house people living on the site as opposed to holidaying. The airport runway is about 1km as the crow flies, so extremely noisy at night when you can hear the planes revving up for take off every ten minutes. Swimming lake is not as close as suggested and staff recommend one much further away. New guests were arriving at all times of the night, despite the gate access "closed from 11pm until 7am"

"Storm of the century" hit and nobody checked in with the guests to make sure they were ok, safe, or made it through the night unscathed,. In actual fact they assigned a new arrival to the site onto our pitch 5 hours before we were checking out, when the pitch was completely flooded.

Liked Der Campingplatz liegt sehr schön im Grünen. Die Waschhäuser sind groß und sauber. Viele schöne Städte sind in der Nähe. Ideal zum Fahrrad fahren.

Liked Ruhige Lage, schön mit dem Fluß, große Plätze, schöne Aussicht. Guter Ausgangspunkt um mit dem Fahrrad nach Amsterdam zu fahren.

Disliked Leider kein Restaurant. Kiosk zwar da, aber nicht lange auf.

Liked Die Angestellten waren sehr nett. Die Karte zum Finden des Platzes war sehr übersichtlich.

Disliked Die Duschen haben nach Urin gestunken. Eine Dusche war kaputt, aber das stand da nicht.
Die Handseife war immer leer und die Papiertücher auch.
Neben unserem Zeltplatz war eine Familie. Die Kinder haben ab 6 Uhr morgens rumgeschrien. Vielleicht könnte man Normale Leute von Kindern trennen und auf einen anderen Platz packen.
Die Anbindung zur Innenstadt ist sehr schlecht aber daran könnt ihr ja nichts ändern :)
Auf eurer Website sind Bilder von Menschen die Schwimmen aber man darf nicht schwimmen.

Well, depending on your interests, there’s (deep breath…) the Rijksmuseum, the Rembrandt Museum, the Van Gogh Museum, the Anne Frank House, the Heineken Experience, canal boat trips, Amsterdam Zoo, the houseboat museum – plus of course stacks of cafés, bars and clubs… best be planning several days (and nights) to take it all in. As enticing as it is, Amsterdam’s not the only attraction around these parts. Those seeking to tick off classic Dutch sights should aim for the Aalsmeer flower auction (10 minutes’ drive), snap windmill pics in Zaanse Schans (15 minutes) and take a tasty trip to the Alkmaar cheese market (35 minutes). If it’s time for a few breaths of sea air, venture to the fishing village of Volendam (35 minutes) to eat by the harbour while locals wander about in traditional dress, or head west to Zandvoort (25 minutes) for beach days, strolls in the sand dunes or watersports including paddleboarding and kitesurfing.
