  • Riverside site with private beach, fishing and boat and canoe rental
  • Near bike and walking trails in the Sallandse Heuvelrug National Park
  • Lots for kids plus Indoor pool, multisports court and bowling alley
Wanting for a waterside stay somewhere with lots and lots for kids to do, plus a good bit more for adults too? Vakantiepark Mölke is settled on the banks of the Regge river on the edge of Rijssen town in the east of the Netherlands. Known locally as the Reggestreek, the surrounding area is made up of moors, forests and heath, and the Sallandse Heuvelrug National Park is an easy eight kilometres to the west for hikes, bike rides and nature-based excursions and activities. This tremendously well-appointed site has a fab range of facilities too, which means you can have just about any sort of siteside day you so desire: first off, there’s a small indoor pool to lounge alongside or swim in, as well as a bowling alley and bike hire for pedals along sections of the hundreds of kilometres of waymarked cycling and walking trails that crisscross the surrounding area. As Vakantiepark Mölke lies on the banks of a river, several water-based jaunts are added to your list of on-site leisure options too: the river has its own sandy beach, and you can go fishing or rent canoes or kayaks for further exploration of the waterways. For small people, an indoor jungle playground and a spacious and well-equipped outdoor play area are on site so they can scamper about no matter how (in)clement the weather. There are also pedal-powered go-kart rental for rides around the site, plus an accessible all-weather multisports pitch for showing off their ball game skills. They’ll also be buzzing after bouncing around on the ginormous inflatable trampoline, and if you’re staying here during peak season, heaps of activities are put on for them too. Food-wise, the mini market is stocked with all the usual essentials, and barbecues (and campfires) are allowed; however, if you’d rather leave foodie things down to someone else with actual cheffing skills, that’s OK too: the restaurant and snack bar is where you can head. Vakantiepark Mölke's two washrooms include accessible facilities and a fably themed kids’ washroom, and a launderette with washing machines and tumble dryers is on hand to take care of any fateful food or drink spillages.

Dream suite 1 bedroom cabin (two person)

Liked: Well organised camp site. Clean. Facilties were good and not too expensive to eat or drink in the restuarants. Accomodation (Dream Suite) had a very comfortable large bed / clean fresh good quality linen / accessories in the room were good / everything we needed to self cater. The washing / dish cleaning products provided were helpful (as we only stayed 1 night we didn't think to pack any). Only suggestion would be to consider providing body washing products in the shower... we are used to staying in accomodation that always provides this as a minimum so we didn't realise we should bring our own... however we know for next time as we will definately be coming back. Highly reccommended and we wished we had booked for longer!

Disliked: We had some issues with the administration as we booked with Pitchup.com and paid the full fee, and receieved payment confirmation which concluded we didn't have to pay anything at the Molke campsite as they had received thier payment. However I received an invoice directly from Molke campsite requesting that I pay an amount which was a lot more than I had already paid Pitchup.com. After contacting them they confirmed it was an administration error and there would be nothing to pay on arrival, however 2 days after arriving home I was emailed the same invoice saying it was outstanding and I needed to pay. We therefore had to contact them again and explain we had already resolved this issue before arrival. We hope thier administration process is better organised the next time we book!

Local attractions

Hire a bike on site for pedal-powered adventures around the local area, which is punctuated by villages, farms and historic buildings. Sallandse Heuvelrug National Park is also nearby for more hiking and cycling options, with a jampacked programme of nature-based activities and excursions throughout the year. For something history-based, Rijssens Museum and Sköpke clog museum are within six kilometres of the park, and yet more culture can be spied at the handsome Hanseatic city of Deventer, just over half an hour’s drive away. If you actually manage to tear the kids away from the park, Hellendoorn Adventure Park, Slagharen amusement park and Apenheul Primate Park in Apeldoorn are a few fun family options well within an hour’s drive.
