  • Friendly and welcoming Christian family campsite in Voorthuizen
  • Opposite the Wilbrinkbos for walks; 15 minutes' drive to Julianatoren
  • Lots of sociable activities; restaurant, swimming pool and games room
With a name like this, Camping Het Beloofde Land (‘The Promised Land’) has a lot to live up to… And live up to it is exactly what it does, with a spacious woodland setting and plenty of activities for all ages. There’s a relaxed, friendly and welcoming vibe at this Christian family campsite in the outskirts of Voorthuizen, on the edge of the Veluwe. Coming together to enjoy some time with your fellow guests is a big part of staying here – there’s almost always something going on, from kids’ club activities (including football tournaments, theatre shows and Bible study sessions) to family entertainments such as foam parties, laser tag, bingo and the big summer festival. You're not likely to get bored between organised activities and the site's other leisure facilities, which include a swimming pool (with waterslide), a climbing wall, two play areas and a games room. There's plenty of room for outdoor games or playing on the swings in the trees. And for practical matters, the site has a restaurant, shop, launderette and wifi. For off-site activities, hire a bicycle and head out onto local bike trails or take walks in the Wilbrinkbos opposite the site. Camping Het Beloofde Land is on the edge of the Hoge Veluwe National Park, and there are plenty of shops and places to eat a short walk/cycle away in Barneveld. In high season, a food market pops up next to the site with fresh blueberries and local berry products such as jam, juice, wine, brandy and honey. Finally, the site owners would like to point out that Camping Het Beloofde Land is a Christian site, and that a number of on-site activities centre on faith. Participation in those programs isn’t compulsory and non-Christian holidaymakers are of course welcome on site.

Local attractions

Out into the open air? It’s easy to soak up some of the natural landscapes here, as you need only walk over to the Wilbrinkbos (opposite the site) for hours of walks on one of the ‘klompenpad’ hiking trails. For bike rides, a good place to head to is cycling junction 21 in the centre of Voorthuizen, which leads to several paths taking you out into the Veluwe. For other fresh-air activities, get up into the trees at Klimbos Garderen (10 minutes drive) or take a stroll around the outdoor artworks at Kröller-Müller Museum (25 minutes). The colourful rides of Julianatoren Apeldoorn (15 minutes) are often popular with families – as are the indoor/outdoor play spaces of Treasure Island Zeumeren (five minutes), especially on a damp day. Other outings might take you to meet monkeys at Apenheul (20 minutes), see marine mammals at the Dolfinarium (half an hour) or explore the artworks and formal gardens at Paleis Het Loo (25 minutes).
