  • Family-friendly, amenity-packed site with entertainment for kids
  • In the Veluwe, just on the outskirts of De Hoge Veluwe National Park
  • Indoor and outdoor swimming pools, trampoline centre and kids’ club
Anyone who likes a bit of variety on a trip should consider dawdling around De Hoge Veluwe National Park’s diverse landscape of woodland, heathland, lakes and sand drifts; in fact, anyone who likes a bit of variety at all should consider Camping Ackersate, right on the reserve’s edges – it’s got loads of amenities for guests to get stuck into. At this Gelderland park, submerge yourself in the outdoor pool, warm up in the indoor pool or brave the waterslides; there’s also a centre full of trampolines to bounce around on, and a kids' activity programme. Smaller humans can hop, skip and jump around the playgrounds as well, while you keep an eye on them from a comfy, grassy spot in the grounds. Keen to get out and about? The Veluwe’s practically your back garden at Camping Ackersate and the site’s centrally located (with well-paved roads for fast entry and exit), so walking and cycling routes in the surrounds are easy to reach. After touring the area's verdant forests and ridges, Restaurant Het Karrewiel and a snack bar are on hand for carb loading. For other eats, the restaurants, takeaways and supermarkets in the village of Voorthuizen are a five-minute drive away; if you're after sights there are four zoos, the National Sports Centre Papendal and the Het Loo royal palace at Apeldoorn in the Veluwe.

Fully-serviced grass pitch (comfort)

Mitarbeiter waren wirklich freundlich! Es war ein sehr schöner Aufenthalt!

Local attractions

If the kids are OK with being torn away from the site's trampolines, there are plenty of activities for them in the Veluwe, from the Apenheul primate park (25 minutes’ drive) to the Burgers' Zoo (35 minutes). For more animal antics, the Dolfinarium – Europe’s biggest marine mammal park – is half an hour away. And for the adults? The region’s got well over 50 museums, including the acclaimed Kröller-Müller, home to the planet's second-largest collection of paintings by native Dutchman Vincent Van Gogh. There’s also the Netherlands Open Air Museum for immersive history – it’s full of antique houses, farms and factories from various areas of the country. If you've not had enough time in nature, the National Park Veluwezoom (an hour and 15 minutes) is a top spot for strolls through heathland dotted with Highland cattle; keep your eyes peeled for the red deer, wild boar and the relatively rare pine marten that live around here too.
