  • A few steps from Lake Trasimeno and its beach
  • Activities and entertainment provided by a multilingual team
  • Restaurant, barbecue areas, outdoor pools, harbour and disco room

Spectacular Italian lake views – and a beach within ambling distance – and free boat trips for site guests... which might you fancy first at Camping Village Punta Navaccia on the edge of beaut Lake Trasimeno? Or there's landing a catch or two with an afternoon's fishing in the lush angling waters of the lake, or plunging into the blue water for a wild swim, or tramping around the lake to spy its several hillside castles – this last is where one should pretend one is at Helm's Deep.

Set a few minutes' drive from the Puglia town of Tuoro sul Trasimeno, Punta Navaccia is in a land of activities and attractions as well as some splendid sights: the lake is surrounded by olive grove hills and vineyards; three islands are ready to explore among its waters, and ancient Perugia is within half an hour's drive. Just to the south of the lake, about 20 minutes' drive from the site, there's birdwatching for the eagle eyed at La Valle Oasis nature reserve.

But you'll likely decide to save most of this for your second week, for there's a great amount to investigate on site for some days before exploring the surroundings. Punta Navaccia has direct access to a beach with parasols and sun umbrellas for those who wish to be idle, and with a floating platform over the lake for those who might desire to dive in for a dip. Also waterly, there's a pool and a paddling pool among the seven-hectare grounds, as well as a small harbour with moorings and a pier.

Other leisure facilities include a playground, a multisports court, a disco room and a ping pong table. The multilingual team lays on evening shows, activities and tournaments if you prefer your entertainment and activities nicely organised for you; an internet point and free wifi spots are around the site for when you're feeling slightly more solitary.

Meals and drinks are easily sourced at the restaurant-pizzeria or site supermarket; if you're prepping your own eats, two communal barbecue areas are to hand for sizzling up.

Please note

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

The outdoor swimming pool is open between 01/05 and 30/09 (subject to weather conditions).

    Lake view was ok
    Outside camp very nice area

Run down facilities really need updating
    Toilets showers are awful
We likened the site to a refugee camp run down holiday shacks

From the manager...

Dear Mr Christopher,

We thank you for your review very much, and we are very sorry to hear that some facilities of our camping didn't meet your expectations.

After the closing of the campsite we have began to work to improve our toilets showers and to improve also one section of the camping where the residential guests are located, which is partly spoiled.

Every year we try to do our best to satisfy the requests of our clients.

Kindest regards

The Camping Management

There was a problem in the communication from pitchup but they did everything they could to sort it out and we (2 families) squeezed on one pitch. The pontoon is amazing, you can swim in th lake and the kids can jump off the pontoon, also sun beds at the lake

Swimming caps needed in the pool, spiky seaweed in the lake

From the manager...

Dear Jenny,

We thank you for your reviewvery much.
Unfortunately the italian regulations concerning the pools oblige us to request that our hosts wear swimming caps.
Usually we do not have seaweeds in the lake, but this year the temperature of the water was quite high, and the outside temperature was over 40°. This causes the growth of seaweeds, but this is very rare.

We are anyway happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay in our camping, and we hope to see you next year.

Kindest regards

Local attractions

Swimming, watersports, boat trips, sailing, hiking... all are easily available from here. More placidly, the excellent water quality of Lake Trasimeno means it's stuffed with fishy specimens such as pike and carp, so do bring your rod if you're an angling type.

Around the lake, there are paths aplenty for walking, cycling and mountain biking, most signposted and all among spectacular scenery. Or opt for castle hunting and town sightseeing instead, around settlements like Tuoro, Passignano sul Trasimeno, San Feliciano, Castiglione del Lago and Borghetto, or venture into the nearby vineyards of the Umbrian and Tuscan hills for wine tastings and tours.

Trasimeno's islands, Isola Polvese and Isola Maggiore, are rightly popular destinations around this part of Puglia too: take the boat to them from San Feliciano within 20 minutes' drive of Punta Navaccia. If you're a twitcher, boats go from San Feliciano to the nearby La Valle Oasis nature reserve too, where experts run guided birdwatching tours twice a week in the summer months.
