  • Peaceful family- and dog-friendly site near the banks of river Aisne
  • Half an hour’s drive from Soissons and 40 minutes from Reims
  • On-site restaurant, heated indoor pool and play area
If you’re seeking a stay at a site that welcomes dogs and families, narrow it down to Camping de la Pointe in Bourg-et-Comin, an Aisne park at the centre of a triangle made up of Laon, Soissons and Reims. As well as being close enough to these three top towns and cities for day trips, the site’s in a nifty location near a handful of historical attractions and within easy access of car-free adventures. Kick off scenic hikes and bike rides around local canals and alongside rivers or follow your compass towards lakes and ponds for fishing. Failed to land a fine specimen for supper? No problem. The restaurant just next door dishes up French cuisine using local ingredients and is run by folk who pride themselves on their traditional Breton crêpes. There’s also a takeaway option on pizzas – handy after long days out when all you want to do is get comfy in your digs for the evening. And if you fancy rustling up your own eats, barbecues are permitted. When your food’s gone down, dive into the heated indoor pool (open from April to September).

What customers say

This small, well-maintained campsite is highly recommended for its friendly staff, immaculately clean facilities, and peaceful atmosphere. Visitors appreciate the spacious, private pitches and the lovely indoor swimming pool, which is a particular highlight. The on-site restaurant receives excellent reviews for its delicious food. It's considered an ideal stopover location en route to Calais, offering good value for money. A few guests noted the lack of toilet seats and the need for own toilet roll, which appears to be common in the region.

Electric optional grass touring caravan, tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked I’ve stayed here I think 5 times now, I use it as my last stop off point before heading back to Calais (about 190 miles and about 2.5hrs in a car on the A4). Gives me 1/2 days down time at the end of my European road trips.

Great small little campsite. Perfect for a bit of peace and quiet. Just sit down and do nothing!

Site is always immaculate, never any rubbish. Never had any issue with noisy or annnoying children. Owners are super friendly always try to accommodate .

I would definitely recommend booking in advance - this site only has about 35 pitches and is always fully booked in the summer months. However it is open all year round if you are doing an out of season trip.

Indoor swimming pool is great for when the outside temps hit 40deg!

All pitches have access to mains electricity and you are never more than a couple of pitches away from a water tap.

On site restaurant and bar. Food has always been good. It’s also possible to order/buy bread etc each morning.

Onsite WiFi seems to work well. If you are on Orange F mobile provider then you only get 4G!

If you are looking at staying for more than a day or so, I would suggest stopping in one of the towns before hand and finding a Carrefour / Super U and stock up on food.

The towns of Reims and Laon are easy to get to by car.

Can’t believe this site is so cheap!

Like myself, I’ve spoken to quite a few UK people on site and they all agree it’s a little hidden gem of a campsite.

The couple of small local villages are within a decent walk. Down by the lakes and river is quite nice but don’t expect cafes and bars galore - this campsite is in a very rural area!

100% recommended site, hence why I keep returning.

Electric optional grass motorhome pitch

Liked We really enjoyed our stay here. The receptionist (Céline)? Was very friendly and speaks very good English. There is a young man who takes care of the grounds and cleaning and he too is friendly, the site was immaculately clean. The pitches are a decent size, separated by hedges and most have at least a little shade. If you are camping there is a fridge and freezer. The pool is large, covered and clean and there is an adjacent small play area with trampoline and small climbing frame. There’s also a boules pitch. Other campsite users were friendly and quiet. The sanitary facilities were immaculately clean though they are both gender and you have to provide toilet paper. There’s a bar and restaurant on site and you can order bread for the following day. It’s a 10 minutes walk / 3 minute cycle in to the village where there’s a bar and tobacconist and patisserie that also sells a limited range of groceries. The area is picturesque and quiet.

Local attractions

History buffs will be in their element hereabouts thanks to sights like the Caverne du Dragon, the Musée du Chemin des Dames (10 minutes’ drive), an underground museum set in former war tunnels and dedicated to WWI soldiers. Vauclair Abbey (10 minutes) is another old-timey spot to visit for roams around the ruins of a 12th-century Cistercian monastery; for architecture that’s a little more intact, take yourself over to the Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Laon (25 minutes) or stroll around Soissons’ ancient centre, museums and gardens (half an hour). Another settlement to skip through is Reims for its striking basilica, cathedral and palace (40 minutes). This city – considered by many to be the capital of the Champagne region – also has a handful of houses hosting tours and tastings of the fizzy stuff the area is famed for. If sipping on bubbly hasn’t quashed your hankering for historical expeditions, head to Donjon de Septmonts (half an hour) and climb to the top of the keep for views out over the countryside. Follow up with a visit to the Fort of Condé monument (20 minutes) as well to see this 17th-century site on the Séré de Rivières system. And if the kids aren’t best pleased with all these bricks-and-mortar-based adventures? Take them along to the Parc de Coupaville adventure park (half an hour) to bound on the inflatable games.
