  • Peaceful family- and dog-friendly site near the banks of river Aisne
  • Half an hour’s drive from Soissons and 40 minutes from Reims
  • On-site restaurant, heated indoor pool and play area
If you’re seeking a stay at a site that welcomes dogs and families, narrow it down to Camping de la Pointe in Bourg-et-Comin, an Aisne park at the centre of a triangle made up of Laon, Soissons and Reims. As well as being close enough to these three top towns and cities for day trips, the site’s in a nifty location near a handful of historical attractions and within easy access of car-free adventures. Kick off scenic hikes and bike rides around local canals and alongside rivers or follow your compass towards lakes and ponds for fishing. Failed to land a fine specimen for supper? No problem. The restaurant just next door dishes up French cuisine using local ingredients and is run by folk who pride themselves on their traditional Breton crêpes. There’s also a takeaway option on pizzas – handy after long days out when all you want to do is get comfy in your digs for the evening. And if you fancy rustling up your own eats, barbecues are permitted. When your food’s gone down, dive into the heated indoor pool (open from April to September).

What customers say

This is a welcoming, well-maintained campground with spacious, private sites and a relaxed atmosphere. Visitors praise the clean, modern facilities, the heated indoor pool, and the on-site restaurant. The owners are consistently described as friendly and helpful, contributing to the site's high recommendation rate for stopovers and longer stays. A small number of reviews mention the unisex nature of the toilets/showers and the occasional lack of toilet paper, which is noted but does not detract from overall positive experiences.

Power optional grass RV campsite

Liked Fantastic pool, friendly staff, gorgeous food at the restaurant. Very quiet location and overnight stop before long drive down south.

Disliked No toilet had their own designated toilet roll. You had to find one on the window sill outside the cubicles. Very random

Power optional grass RV campsite

Liked Quiet and spacious pitch, very clean toilets and showers, friendly owner. This was a one night stop over to keep going further south and it was so quiet and relaxing.

Disliked The restaurant and bar were closed but we didn’t know and arrived after a very long, stressful journey from the UK with little to eat. As far as we were aware we should have been able to get food, the website didn’t give any info on timings

Power optional grass travel trailer, tent or trailer tent campsite

Local attractions

History buffs will be in their element hereabouts thanks to sights like the Caverne du Dragon, the Musée du Chemin des Dames (10 minutes’ drive), an underground museum set in former war tunnels and dedicated to WWI soldiers. Vauclair Abbey (10 minutes) is another old-timey spot to visit for roams around the ruins of a 12th-century Cistercian monastery; for architecture that’s a little more intact, take yourself over to the Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Laon (25 minutes) or stroll around Soissons’ ancient centre, museums and gardens (half an hour). Another settlement to skip through is Reims for its striking basilica, cathedral and palace (40 minutes). This city – considered by many to be the capital of the Champagne region – also has a handful of houses hosting tours and tastings of the fizzy stuff the area is famed for. If sipping on bubbly hasn’t quashed your hankering for historical expeditions, head to Donjon de Septmonts (half an hour) and climb to the top of the keep for views out over the countryside. Follow up with a visit to the Fort of Condé monument (20 minutes) as well to see this 17th-century site on the Séré de Rivières system. And if the kids aren’t best pleased with all these bricks-and-mortar-based adventures? Take them along to the Parc de Coupaville adventure park (half an hour) to bound on the inflatable games.
