General

  • Leave the car at home
  • Indoor and outdoor swimming pools
  • Activities and tournaments during high season

As the name suggests, the Campsite Les Cypres lies at the heart of a cypress forest. It has private access to a sandy beach (only 400m away). Forget traffic jam, cars and petrol stations - rent a bike and cycle to the centre of Saint-Gilles-Croix-deVie, only three kilometres away.

The aqua park features an outdoor swimming pool with a paddling pool and an indoor heated pool with Jacuzzi corner.

The facilities also include a ping pong table, a playground with a bouncy castle, bike and baby trailer rental. During high season, we organise activities, evening parties and tournaments.

visited france for many years camping with my parents and love the area however never stayed at this campsite before and never again!
the only plus for this site was the location as we could cycle to st gilles croiz de vie every evening for food.

    Disliked:

rudeness of staff in particular a short hair(grey ish) lady on reception when we went in to enquire about wifi she was very rude and NOT helpful at all, body language disgusting and rolling her eyes and just walked away from us very rude!
location of pitch right next to kids area and bar etc- not a problem as bar supposodely closed at 1130 more like 12-1230 and then you would have gangs of kids hanging outside till later than this every night

The site is smaller, which worked well with younger kids - ours are 7 and 5. The beachside location is brilliant: it took us 15 minutes to get to the beach over the dunes - you don't need to go on any roads at all. The beach is sandy and not too crowded (no lifeguard in the beach directly by the campsite but you can go further to find a guarded beach). We had a shady pitch (some are shady, some more exposed) and rented a fridge and bbq, which made camping life very easy. Pool was nice, well stocked shop, really friendly staff. Mostly French guests mixed in with some Dutch, German and English. The vendee cycle path is directly accessible from the campsite and we used it for a family cycle ride for one day out, with bikes hired from the site.

    Disliked:

Shady spot meant we had some tree roots to contend with. The pitch probably was grassy in spring but by August, was more sand / dust so bring a dustpan and brush and a tent doormat. The entertainment from the bar each night was fairly noisy (it would be very loud if you were right next to it), especially on the night of live music, but it did stop around 11.30.

staff in reception very obliging.. could of done with menus in café/takeaway translated into English?...10 mins. walk over dunes to beach with then lovely walk into St Giles for a meal/drink on the beachfront.

    Disliked:

Having to pay for wifi...other than half hour per day in the bar.

The site was really close to the beach.

I booked this via pitchup, I had an email to state I could check in until 8pm, the ferry was delayed but still there well before 8 and everything was closed! No where to check in and no signs anywhere. We eventually found a number to call, we had a letter telling us to take any pitch we wanted. They were all very small! The bar is only open two days a week and there's nowhere to get anything to eat. No bbqs allowed even though it didn't say that on the website. In the end we left the campsite the day after arriving and stayed somewhere else. Never got a call to see where we were or my money back!

From the manager...

Dear Family,

we are sorry and surprised to read your comment.
Indeed, one hour before the closing reception, we call you at the telephone number (booking request)., to know what time you thought you arrive at the campsite.
We explain on your answering machine, how to access the campsite (access code, several pitches available to choose) if the office reception is close when you arrive . We did'nt have news from you.
A 21h00, you called us, we answer and we explain you, how to install you in the campsite. We told you that you have to return at the office reception next morning, to tell us witch place you chosed, and to have information.
In the evening, we saw you, enter in the campsite (at the gate).
The next morning, nobody come in the office reception. So we are desapointed to hear this message !

We are very surprising of this situation, because it's the first time, it happened.
