Wonderful location close to activities and…
Electric grass pitch
Liked Wonderful location close to activities and walking distance from an excellent boulangerie (eat the jesuits). Good cycle access to close by towns and lots to drive to. Canals are lush and beautiful. The best showers in the whole of our camping tour, plentiful washing up and laundry facilities; washblock was well arranged, clean and generously proportioned. The bar and creperie on site looked nice, as did the shop, although we did not use these.
Disliked You'll need earplugs. At 4am, some kind of deforestation began in a neighbouring field and the noise was striking and aggressive. This prevented sleeping but also sounded very close. Staff should be able to advise whether this was a one off or regular occurrence, but did not advise us of it.

From the manager: Thank you for your very positive comments about our campsite, its location, and the cleanliness and quality of our sanitary facilities. We are very pleased that you enjoyed these aspects of your stay.
However, we would like to clarify one important point regarding the noise you mentioned.
You stayed with us for three nights and were therefore able to see that this was clearly an exceptional occurrence and not a regular disturbance. The noise came from neighbouring land outside the campsite, over which we have absolutely no control.
During periods of very hot weather, some outdoor work may also begin particularly early in the day. In any case, we had received no information at all about any work taking place nearby, so it was simply impossible for us to warn you in advance about something we were not aware of ourselves.
We take great care to ensure peace and quiet within our campsite and intervene whenever necessary. However, we cannot be responsible for activities taking place on neighbouring private land or guarantee complete silence throughout the surrounding countryside.
We are genuinely sorry that this exceptional event disturbed your stay, but we feel it is rather unfair to hold our campsite or our staff responsible for a disturbance that was completely outside our property, outside our control, and of which we had no prior knowledge.
Sincerely,
Laura

Liked We had a lovely stay here and really didn’t want to leave! The campsite is peaceful, clean and well looked after, with lovely friendly staff and a great location for exploring the area. We only wish we could have stayed longer. We’d definitely come back and highly recommend it! 😊

Liked Nice and peaceful with lots of places to walk.
Disliked Very little in choice of food or restaurants within walking distance. In fact only on site restaurant and cafe bar down by boat hire place. You will need at least 25 meters of power hook if you need it. In addition you will need a plug 110v converter for hook up

From the manager: Thank you for your review. We are pleased that you enjoyed the peace and quiet of our campsite and the many walking opportunities around Le Mazeau.
We would, however, like to clarify a few points. Our small village of around 450 inhabitants actually has three places to eat, including our own traditional crêperie at the campsite. We also offer a bar and a small grocery shop. Several neighbouring villages also have restaurants and cafés and are easily accessible by bicycle or car.
Regarding the electrical hook-up, the need to bring a sufficiently long cable is clearly stated on the website before arrival. As for the adaptor, this simply relates to the standard electrical connection used on campsites in France and more widely across Europe; visitors coming from countries using a different type of plug therefore need to bring the appropriate adaptor.
Being located in a small village in the heart of the Marais Poitevin naturally means that the choice of restaurants within immediate walking distance cannot be the same as in a town or city. However, this peaceful, natural and unspoilt setting is also exactly what many of our guests come here to enjoy.
We are therefore a little surprised by the 7/10 rating, which seems rather severe considering the positive points you mention and the services available on site. Of course, we fully respect your opinion, but we felt it was important to clarify these points for future guests.
Thank you again for staying at Camping Le Marais Sauvage.

What customers say
This is a tranquil campsite in a beautiful natural setting, praised for its friendly and helpful owners, clean facilities, and spacious pitches. It's well-located for walking and cycling. Some guests noted the bins were not easily accessible and the electrical hook-up required an adapter, although managers have considered improvements.
