What customers say

This is a well-maintained, tranquil campsite in a beautiful rural location, praised for its friendly and helpful English-speaking owners. Visitors highlight the exceptionally clean facilities, spacious and private pitches, and good on-site bar/cafe serving crepes and galettes. It's considered ideal for cycling and walking, with nearby boat hire. A few minor points include some guests finding it isolated and a limited food menu.

Liked Loved loved this quiet campsite surrounded by the waterways of the green Venice. We had a canoe to take advantage of this and could drop it into the water just a short walk away. Good facilities

Electric optional grass pitch

Liked Sometimes you lose your heart to a place and this was one of those. We loved the silence and the calmness. The weather wasn’t great but we loved the evening galettes and the friendliness of the owners. Nothing was too much trouble. Come here if you can. And the showers are amazing.

Local attractions

With 112,000 hectares of canals and nature to explore, the surrounding Marais Poitevin regional natural park is a great place for boating, canoeing, kayaking or stand up paddleboarding. Fishing, cycling, walking and other leisure activities to help you feel at one with nature are also readily available in the immediate vicinity – for recommendations, head to the nearest tourist office in the pretty riverside town of Coulon (15 minutes' drive), which is also a good place to start boat trips. Elsewhere, the pretty ruins of the Abbaye Saint-Pierre de Maillezais (15 minutes) is worth a visit for anyone interested in the local area's Catholic and Huguenot heritage. For more inspiring buildings, you’d do well to check out the Renaissance château at Coulonges-sur-l'Autize too (25 minutes). If you don't mind a longer drive, it's well worth driving down to the beaches of La Rochelle or Noirmoutier island, both of which can be reached in just under an hour. If you're travelling with kids and want to keep them on their best behaviour, the prospect of a trip to the fab rides and live action shows at the Puy du Fou theme park (an hour and 15 minutes) is likely to do the trick.
