Camping La Grande Vallée

It’s likely that much of your time here will revolve around time spent on the fab sandy beach, but it’s worth getting out and about to see a little further afield. Start with heading into La Tranche-sur-Mer (10 minutes) for surfing lessons, paddleboarding trips and pony riding excursions for the nippers. 20 minutes or so in the car takes you up to two kid-friendly amusement parks: Indian Forest adventure park for treetop antics, archery, paintballing and zorbing, and the O’Gliss Park waterpark with many colourful waterslides and serene beach spots under the palm trees. Cycling is a popular way to get around here – explore more distant stretches of beach or head out onto the paths through the surrounding fields and forests. There’s easy access to more than 20 kilometres of cycle path from the site, plus as far as you’d like to go along the Vélodyssée long-distance path that runs along the whole of the Atlantic coast. If you’ve not brought your own bikes, there’s a handy hire place just a couple of minutes’ walk from the site.
