It's free, quick and easy!
- Family-friendly site 10 minutes' walk from a sheltered sandy beach
- Free shuttle bus to the attractions of La Tranche-sur-mer in summer
- Bar/snack bar with terrace overlooking the playground
Sand, sea swims and socialising – life’s simpler pleasures don’t get much grander than those at family-friendly Camping La Grande Vallée. Pack up your beach kit if you’re heading here, as it’s likely you’ll be making several trips down to the sheltered sandy stretch that’s a 10-minute amble from the site.
Beach buffs of many flavours should find something to appeal: a watersports centre rents out canoes, pedalos and paddleboards for those who like to be up and about and there’s a wide stretch of soft sand for dedicated do-nothings to idle around on. If you’d like to expand your horizons to something a bit livelier, take the free bus that runs guests to the resort of La Tranche-sur-Mer in the summer.
Life on site moves at a gentle pace – it’s a peaceful place aimed at relaxing stays for la famille, but with enough facilities to keep things running smoothly. Kids’ activities are organised on site a couple of times a week in summer; there's a playground, and grownups can saunter over to the bar terrace next to the play area for a coffee or something a tad stronger.
Hunger pangs can be swiftly sorted with something from the snack bar menu, and there’s a bakery and small supermarket to provide all the necessaries for packing picnics or organising a suppertime sausage sizzle.
The site has excellent amenities, including a launderette with washing machines and tumble dryers along with a large toilet and shower block that's been given the thumbs up by previous guests for its sparkling cleanliness.

Local attractions
It’s likely that much of your time here will revolve around time spent on the fab sandy beach, but it’s worth getting out and about to see a little further afield. Start with heading into La Tranche-sur-Mer (10 minutes) for surfing lessons, paddleboarding trips and pony riding excursions for the nippers.
20 minutes or so in the car takes you up to two kid-friendly amusement parks: Indian Forest adventure park for treetop antics, archery, paintballing and zorbing, and the O’Gliss Park waterpark with many colourful waterslides and serene beach spots under the palm trees.
Cycling is a popular way to get around here – explore more distant stretches of beach or head out onto the paths through the surrounding fields and forests. There’s easy access to more than 20 kilometres of cycle path from the site, plus as far as you’d like to go along the Vélodyssée long-distance path that runs along the whole of the Atlantic coast.
If you’ve not brought your own bikes, there’s a handy hire place just a couple of minutes’ walk from the site.
