  • Quiet dog-friendly site next to Lake Ardres
  • A 20-minute drive from Calais and 25 minutes from beaches
  • Within walking distance of restaurants and shops; pétanque on site
The Opal Coast… a name that brings to mind white cliffs, windswept beaches and beach huts of all colours. Then there’s Lake Ardres… that spot has shot to popularity too, mostly because of its gentle waters surrounded by the Brêmes countryside. Tucked to one side of the lake in its lush green surrounds is Camping Le Courtil Rose. The lakeside site has its own set of attractions: a quiet and dog-friendly being one of the key ones. There’s a pétanque pitch and lots of practical facilities too (showers, toilets and launderette included). Access to the lake is one of the most exciting parts. Rent an electric bike and take a lap of the lakeshore or pack yourself up a picnic and pick a pretty spot for a relaxed day by the water. There are restaurants (both alongside the lake and not) within walking distance of the site, as well as shops. When you’re ready to trade that fresh water for the salty kind, Calais beach on the Opal Coast is but a 25-minute drive away from the site. With the ships gliding to and from shore, and a line of beach huts, it’s a special spot. Also along the coast, about 25 minutes’ drive away is Plage de Sangatte, a popular patch for windsurfing, kitesurfing, fishing, sand yachting and horse riding.

What customers say

This is a friendly, quiet site, ideal for stopovers near Calais and the Eurotunnel. Pitches are generally spacious and on gravel, with water and electric hook-ups. Facilities are clean, though some guests mention they are basic or undergoing renovation. The owner is consistently praised for being welcoming, helpful, and speaking good English. Nearby lakes offer pleasant walks, and the site provides good value for money. Some visitors noted tight access roads and mixed-sex toilet facilities.

Liked The cleanest camp site we stayed in. Excellent facilities. Very friendly and helpful. Also it is close to the largest bird 'zoo' in Europe which is definitely worth visiting.

Electric optional gravel and hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Peace and quiet, spotlessly clean, very friendly patron, level site with water and electricity. Perfect for outcasts over before crossing with LeShuttle. Only 20 minutes drive away.

Disliked Access to the site is via narrow country lanes or tow paths. If your vehicle is over 2.00m high then avoid the underpass bridge and take the alternative route along the canal and over the railway line. Beware the train bell alarm only gave us about 15seconds to clear the tracks which form a junction with a road.

Electric optional gravel and hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Ideal for travelling from uk to France or vice versa.
Perfect campsite, 🥰 loves our over night stay. Tony (assume owner) very helpful, friendly and approachable. Nothing was too much bother even when we had an issue finding a vet!

Beautiful surrounding, lovely lakeside walks, very quiet and nice and friendly residential owners. Clean, simple and overall very satisfied.

On approaching the site from Calais take the next opening on your left. Our motorhome is 6.4 mtr and never would attempt to take first opening over the bridge…..very tight!!

Disliked Not a dislike but we didn’t have any euros for a shower. I wonder if there is an option to pay by card?

Electric optional gravel and hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Close enough to Calais but not in the city. Quiet location with all facilities available. Clean and well maintained area with good size for larger motor homes.

Disliked The restaurants near by were all closed until after 1800 hrs.

Electric optional gravel and hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Very well laid out site with good sized hard standing pitches and good facilities. The pitches had water and electric hook up. It was a quiet, friendly site. Owner was very helpful and accommodating. Close to town with shops and restaurants handy, and also by a canal and lakes for boating. Very handy for access to the tunnel for crossing back to the uk.

Local attractions

Set off for Calais (20 minutes’ drive), a port town lined with white cliffs. The City of Lace and Fashion is one of its famed museums, telling the story of the town's craft-making past in a 19th-century lace factory. That Opal Coast is calling too… walks-wise, the chalk cliffs of Cap Blanc-Nez (35 minutes) with views over the English channel must surely take the priority. For seaside cities, however, Boulogne-sur-Mer (40 minutes) is first call. The city walls, built in the 13th century, are a clue to the interesting history. The Norman castle has ancient Egyptian and Greek artefacts and an art gallery. If you get the chance, you might want to check out Wimereux (40 minutes), near Boulogne-sur-Mer. A sandy beach backed by a sea wall and promenade, and lined with 19th-century villas, makes for a splendid beach day.
