Perfect to visit Lourdes, within walking distance. 26/06/2017

The proximity for the attractions of Lourdes which was the reason we opted to stay here, for this it was perfect and we would stay here again to visit Lourdes. The site seemed well kept, and there was plenty of choice of pitches.
Electric was on the pitch but waste and water was via a coded service point at the entrance to the site.
Can't comment if there was Wi-Fi or children's play facilities
We would recommend this site for anyone visiting Lourdes.

Don't rely on GPS unless you want some double glazed units making for you, it will get you lost, instead use the sites address and you'll be fine. Bear in mind you can only access it from the opposite side of the road, so I had to drive past the entrance because of the sharpness of the turn, drove to the roundabout and came back along the other carriageway to make a left turn onto the site.
Showers had push button taps, which meant showering one handedly, but they were hot and served their purpose.

Really lovely camp site. We visited off season and still found it great. Our tent opened up to a beautiful view of the snow capped mountains, local amenities really close by (walking distance), very clean facilities on site. Small but has everything you need. We will definitely be coming back here when we re-visit the Pyrenees next year. Great location. Can't fault the place.

Local attractions

Millions of people visit Lourdes every year, to see its Massabielle grotto, its caves and its castle: the town is second only to Paris in terms of annual visitor numbers and attracts visitors from all over the world. The Torchlight Marian Procession, held from spring to October, is the most famed thing to do for pilgrims who visit: join it each night near the main grotto.

The caves of Bétharram/ Grottes de Bétharram are another famed sight in the region and are a 20-minute drive from Camping Le Vieux Berger. Cave connoisseurs can explore them by boat, by train or by foot along the 2.8 underground walk: personally we rather fancy all three...

If you're a hiker type, get up to the top of the Pic du Jer for spectacular views over Lourdes, Pau, Tarbes, the Argelès-Gazost Valley and the Hautes-Pyrénées (you'll see the big cross lit up at the mountaintop if you're in the area at night). Not a hiker type? Take the Pic du Jer Funicular 950 metres up to pass over the mountain instead.
