The entrance of the site

  • Family-friendly site in the Catalan Pyrenees Regional Natural Park
  • On the France/Spain border with 12 ski resorts in the region
  • Bar, playground, pétanque court and regular excursions
This is some scenic land… set right on the France/Spain border south of the village of Palau-de-Cerdagne is Camping Las Asperas, a family-friendly site by a forest track, surrounded by the wide open spaces, nature reserves and high peaks of the Catalan Pyrenees Regional Natural Park. (And if your interest is piqued by a mention of pistes? 12 – oui, 12 – ski resorts are in the region too.) Las Asperas sits on over a hectare of green space, with flat grassy pitches, disabled facilities and solar-powered amenities blocks with free hot showers. It has a playground, ping pong table and pool table, and a bar serving drinks, coffee and ice cream. This is a sociable site with a family vibe: barbecue nights, meals and excursions to land local trout are regularly arranged by the Asperas team, and the pétanque court is where guests gather in the evenings to swap stories of their day's adventuring among the mountains.

What customers say

This is a well-located, clean, and peaceful campsite with beautiful mountain views, praised for its modern and very clean sanitary facilities and warm, friendly welcome. Staff are helpful, and fresh bread is available daily. Some guests noted issues with muddy pitches and found the access road challenging for larger vehicles. While generally positive, a need for improved Wi-Fi during peak times and clearer communication of site rules were mentioned.

Liked Puntos positivos:

From the manager: Bonjour Miriam,
1/ vous avez réservé au travers de Pitchup un séjour à la montagne alors que la météo n’était pas optimale ;
2/ vous venez camper à 1.200 m d’altitude avec un équipement non approprié et sans moyen de connexion électrique tout en méconnaissant la puissance électrique nécessaire au bon fonctionnement de vos appareils électriques;
3/ à aucun moment vous ne nous avez demandé un conseil ;
4/ comme la majorité des campings les chiens doivent être tenus en laisse et notre situation en pleine nature favorise les ballades avec votre animal ;
Cordialement

Liked The surroundings were very pleasant.
Proprietor was nice and helpful.
pingpong, although the table was warped and the ball quite old.
The dishwashing area.

Disliked No toilet seats. This seems to be a French thing as we have encountered it at almost every restroom.
The road in was difficult for a camper van. A lot of trouble getting to the camp for a one night stay.

Liked Pleasant open pitches around the site with fair sandy soil. Staff were helpful translating on their phones to help due to my poor French. Great toilet block.

Disliked Massive thunderstorm that poured gallons of water onto my tent most of the evening

Local attractions

Camping Las Asperas is in the Catalan Pyrenees Regional Natural Park, in a region with 12 ski resorts nearby including Puigmal, Carlit Pic Rouge and Cambre d'Aze. If you're more of a golfer/easy ambler, four 18-hole courses as well as standing stones, medieval villages and farmers' markets are within a 20km radius. This is also hiking land, with 30 kilometres of trails to tackle in the nearby forests of Palau and Osséja and piles more around the local mountain passes. About 14 kilometres from Osséja, several weeks' worth of hiking can be had via the many footpaths of the Eyne Valley nature reserve; ask for details or book a guided tour at the valley's tourist office at Eyne. The site's local village of Palau-de-Cerdagne has an equestrian centre, indoor and outdoor pools and an ice rink.
