A very clean and presentable place, an ideal location for all if you want plenty of sun and good access to the sea without having to use the car as you walk through the camp and it's there! Good facilities with the pools and slides for younger people and children and playground areas which appeared to be well maintained and in good condition.

The staff were always helpful. Initially someone else had taken our electric hook up pitch but they gave us another once we told them. We were then too far away from the nearest hook up for my system so they loaned me an extra long cable to reach for a returnable deposit. It was all sorted in a matter of 20 mins, nothing was too difficult for them seemingly. The customer came first - excellent.

Shower and washing facilities were kept clean and usable all the time. There was an area to wash your plates/cups etc which again was functional and clean. The laundry facility was good, though I'd suggest taking your own washing powders/liquid as the one they sell was "adequate".

There was a small shop complex to the front of the camp which provided a good number of items you would use but there is a larger supermarket just about 7k away that you can get everything a lot more cheaper.

The camp had a strict no noise time frame from around midnight (I think it was) until 7 am, so it was perfectly quiet for all.

We would go again but I think it would be in one of their lodges as they have air con, it gets so hot, even in the night that it was difficult to escape the constant heat, but that's me!

When I was looking for somewhere I put in freezer block exchange and free WiFi.

This campsite was one of those, however we found out on arrival that there is no freezer block facility, but they do proved access to a fridge with a secure compartment to lock your personal foodstuffs in. These were dotted around the locations in which you camped, so unless you were lucky to be given a slot near one of these it meant a short walk for your milk in the morning - still it got you out!

The WiFi was said to be free. It was for the first 30 mins of a 12hr period, and then in the bar area. You could buy extra WiFi time but it was expensive, however given the new rule for roaming rules changing in Europe it should not be a problem. We had an excellent connection and speed when the rule came into play on 15 June 17.

Local attractions

The local market, at the entrance of the site, s held three times a week and has traditional crafts.

For more shopping, boutiques (and restaurants, if you get hungry) are available by the sea and near the tourist office and postal service. Fireworks are shot from the beach on Bastille Day and from the village on 15 August.

With the sea at Portiragnes, you can try many watersports such as sailing, waterskiing, pedal boating and stand-up paddleboarding.

The site is only a kilometre from the Canal du Midi. The ‘9 écluses de Fonsérannes’ (the nine locks of Fonsérannes) are 20 kilometres away and the locks of Libron are ten kilometres away, in the direction of Vias,

Several hiking and cycling trails are easy to access nearby, including the beginnings of the Cévennes and their mountain scenery including the Caroux to the north, and the paths among the vineyards of the Coteaux du Languedoc.

You can also visit the caves of the region, such as Clamouse, Devèze, Demoiselles, Labeil and the giant chasm of Cabrespine in the Aude.

On the way to the medieval city of Carcassonne, stop off in the wine AOC of Corbières or have a detour to Fontfroide Abbey.
