- On the banks of the Seine, half an hour's train ride from Paris
- Disneyland resort and UNESCO-listed Provins within an hour's drive
- Bouncy castle, trampoline, pizzeria and shop selling artisan produce
Lots to do on site is at the River Seineside spot of Camping La Belle Etoile, but if any day you fancy an easy day trip out to the lights and sights of Paris, you can leave the car behind and hop upon a train to be there in an easy peasy 25 minutes...Plus, if you’ve got tiddlers in tow, then they’ll probably be properly delirious when they learn that days around Disneyland are well within their tiny reach, as a mere 45-minute train ride will have them goofing around with Mickey and Minnie among its 4,800-acre attraction-filled expanse.
But before you go bolting off for city days out or white knuckle times, you’d also be well advised to plan several days on site to spend some of your leisure time among its well-appointed family facilities: plenty is on hand to keep tiny peeps plenty occupied, with delighted squealing, bouncing and clambering among bouncy castles, a trampoline, a sandpit and playground kit at either of its two play areas, as well as ping pong tables, table football, a boules pitch and a sports pitch for bouts of sporting competition and – for more cerebral sorts – drawn out games at its giant outdoor chessboard.
Also designated for family funtime is the park’s seasonal pool area, with a heated pool and neighbouring kids’ pool for grownups and offspring to spend watery days, and a roomy sun terrace furnished with loungers for days spent basking, snoozing, reading, or however else you see fit to spend time stretched out by the water.
Multilingual hosts Luc and Yvonne have also thoughtfully placed the site’s snack bar and pizzeria very handily close to the pool for twixt-swim snacks and sustenance – the site team enthusiastically implore all guests to sample their speciality Brie de Melun pizza, and for grownups to guzzle a glass or two of the local artisan beer. Should you prefer to cater for yourself while on your hols, then that’s sorted too at the on-site shop, which sells a good range of regional specialties.

Many sites set a maximum occupancy of 6/8 people per pitch, so try breaking your booking down into smaller groups to generate more results. For example, if you’re a group of 10, enter 5 people in your initial search and then book 2 pitches.
However, where the pitch or accommodation occupancy allows it, you can make a booking for up to 30 adults and 30 children in one booking.
To book multiple pitches or accommodation, use the 'Special requests' box on the booking page to ask to be sited together. Complete the booking form for the first booking (you can add a password and save your card so that we remember your details). Then click "Make another booking like this" at the top of the confirmation page to make the next booking.

Settled on the banks of the River Seine in the Seine-et-Marne department capital of Melun, La Belle Etoile is a super handy stopover spot with a train station and motorway within easy reach for day trips to further-flung lands. For sure, first stop should be Paris for tours around famed historic sights such as the Eiffel Tower, L’Arc de Triomphe, Sacré-Cœur and Notre Dame cathedral and, of course, for shop-til-you-drop day trips and investigative excursions around its many, many galleries and museums.
Next, the dreamland that is Disneyland resort: the most visited attraction in Europe, its vast 4,800 acres are filled with famed rides like Buzz Lightyear’s interactive dark ride or, for something more serene, scenic trips along the park’s monorail and the Disney film-themed Walt Disney Studios Park.
Très artistique Barbizon – the birthplace of the Realist art movement – is an easy 20 minutes’ drive away, and you can soak up a spot more local history at the similarly drivable and utterly spectacular 1,500-room Palace of Fontainebleau; set among 130 acres of parkland and gardens, this is France’s only royal and imperial château to have been continuously inhabited for seven centuries, so should most certainly be high up on anyone’s sightseeing itinerary while in and around Melun. The Baroque 17th-century château of Vaux-le-Vicomte is also within easy reach over in Maincy, and if you rather fancy a day trip to a smashing UNESCO World Heritage Site, then a jaunt to the medieval town of Provins is 50 minutes away by car and highly recommended.
