General
- On the banks of the Seine, half an hour's train ride from Paris
- Disneyland resort and UNESCO-listed Provins within an hour's drive
- Bouncy castle, trampoline, pizzeria and shop selling artisan produce
Lots to do on site is at the River Seineside spot of Camping La Belle Etoile, but if you fancy an easy day trip out to the lights and sights of Paris, you can leave the car behind and take a train to be there in an easy peasy 25 minutes... Plus, if you’ve got tiddlers in tow, they’ll be properly delirious when they learn that days around Disneyland are well within their tiny reach, as a 45-minute train ride will have them goofing around with Mickey and Minnie.
But before you go bolting off for city days out, plenty is on hand on site to keep tiny peeps plenty occupied, with bouncy castles, a trampoline, a sandpit and playground kit at two play areas, as well as ping pong tables, table football, a boules pitch, a sports pitch and a giant outdoor chessboard.
Also designated for family time is the seasonal pool area with heated pool and kids’ pool as well as a roomy sun terrace with loungers for days spent basking, snoozing and reading. Multilingual hosts Yvonne and Luc have also thoughtfully placed the site’s snack bar and pizzeria close to the pool – the site team particularly recommends its speciality Brie de Melun pizza and the local artisan beer pour le grownups.
Should you prefer to cater for yourself while on your hols, the on-site shop sells a good range of regional specialities.

Local attractions
La Belle Etoile is a handy stopover spot with a train station and motorway within easy reach for day trips to further-flung lands. Your first stop should be Paris for famed historic sights such as the Eiffel Tower and L’Arc de Triomphe, for shopping, and for investigative excursions around the city's many galleries and museums.
Très artistique Barbizon – the birthplace of the Realist art movement – is an easy 20 minutes’ drive away, and you can soak up a spot more local history at the similarly drivable and utterly spectacular 1,500-room Palace of Fontainebleau: set among 130 acres of parkland and gardens, this is France’s only royal and imperial château to have been continuously inhabited for seven centuries.
The baroque 17th-century château of Vaux-le-Vicomte is also within easy reach over in Maincy, and if you rather fancy a day trip to a smashing UNESCO World Heritage Site, then a jaunt to the medieval town of Provins 50 minutes' drive away is highly recommended.
