General

  • On the banks of the Seine between Paris and Burgundy
  • Pool surrounded by sun loungers
  • Two play areas, trampoline, snack bar and pizzeria

Camping La Belle Etoile is on the banks of the River Seine in Melun, the capital of Seine and Marne, which is between Paris and Burgundy. The area is easily accessible to motorways and to many historical and cultural sights and attractions.

Hosts Luc and Yvonne will welcome you at the campsite for pleasant stopovers or for summer holidays with your family.

Our on-site activities include two play areas with inflatables, a trampoline, ping pong tables, table football, a play area, a sandpit, a boules pitch, a giant chess board and a sports pitch.

The pool area has a heated pool open from mid-May to mid-September and a paddling pool open in July and August. Sun loungers surround the pools so parents can luxuriate in the sun.

A snack bar and pizzeria are close to the pool: make sure you try our famous Brie de Melun pizza and the local artisan beer Bière de Brie. A shop is available for all necessities and you can also buy regional specialties.

We look forward to seeing you soon.

Please note

The outdoor swimming pool is open between 01/07 and 31/08 (subject to weather conditions).

The female owner was polite & helpful but rarely seen, & completely the opposite of the male owner. The town outside of the camp site is beautiful.

    Disliked:

Our first family holiday with our children, and the male owner was incredibly rude as was his daughter! My children were repeatedly screamed at for no fault of they're own, on one occasion because we had taken ice cream cones out of the freezer within the shop to purchase! Apparently customers may only have the ice creams from the rear of the store in the storage (strange)...They had erected a bouncy castle to which my son was told by another male Co worker of the owner, that if he asks again when it will be ready he will not see or play on a bouncy castle ever again! HE IS AUTISTIC! Both my sons have learning difficulties & they were aware of this prior..my 3Rd oldest was terrified to use the camp sites lavatories because the owner had thrown a roll of toilet tissue at him whilst yelling at him in French, again why!? ...they made us all feel extremely unwelcome to the point we left early every single morning of our 2 week holiday, & only returned before they locked the gates at 11:00pm..they were clearly trying to get us to leave early as we were even forced to move our box trailer & car to the entry of our tent giving up our parking space to different campers who came & went on a nightly basis all because the owners made an error on the online booking that gave us a discount when we booked online, thus because we did not pay the full price for our stay, they went out of they're way to make it the worst first family holiday we could possibly have had! We are disgusted with the way they treated us & not only us, as we witnessed another lady be yelled at I front of other customers because she asked if they had any eggs or bread for sale in the camps shop! You can't have any of the basic day to day edibles unless you order days prior..(for a site of that size extremely inconvenient) ...our children did not need to hear the owners domestic fighting & arguing from they're home, which is slap bang in the middle of the camp sight on a daily basis!..we don't recommend this camp site to anyone with children! ...whether you pay full price or not, avoid at all cost! They're website bares no resemblance to the site at all~dirty showers/mouldy infant bathing area/no hand soap or hand dryer (tissues)/toilets COVERED in feaces from other campers only cleaned up late afternoon after my son trodden in half of it!/cafe-bar only open when the owner is bothered to open it, i can go on all day about the problems believe me.

    Cabin was ok

    Disliked:

The family owners live on site, it felt a little like the camp site was for them and not their guests. They shut the bar to have a finally meal one night.
The train ride back from Paris is dangerous. Once you get off you have a half hour walk to the campsite in the dark. We were scared. If recommend you travel by day time and still the area is not great.
Locally the town centre is not great, their is also a prison 1k away.
Wifi available at 7e for the day! Too much

This site is only 25 mins from Paris by train and extremely reasonable. The owners speak great English (and German and French and probably Spanish too!) and will give you any advice you're looking for including the best tickets for your journey into the capital. The pitches are separated by hedges and a great size. The place was extremely family friendly and on our second night we had a meal in the bar which was lovely - although there was quite a wait for no obvious reason.
The pool is small but great for our kids of 9, 6 and 4 (and 38) and for a short stop on the way down south it was brilliant.

    Disliked:

The toilet block near us was closed on the second night but another was very close by. Be aware, the walk to the station is about a mile, but really it was neither here nor there when you consider it.

We arrived after a long journey for an overnight stopover.
We would have quite liked to stay longer as the site is on the river and had a lot of facilities: nice pool, giant chess, table tennis, basketball etc.
The owners were really friendly. The facilities were basic but clean.

Open, quiet , park like feel. Toilets and showers are well located.
The lady who runs this site is such a nice person, try to deal with her if you can !!.

We were unlucky with the weather on our visit, but that should have no bearing on the nice site, quiet, clean facility blocks.
Pool and play equipment getting tired, but still work ok.

    Disliked:

The gentleman who runs the site with his wife, should seriously go to anger management classes, I personally seen him verbally attack another motorhome driver.
He as I was , told to go and find a pitch that suits you, then come back, and book in.

He had parked where it was wet, and got scalded.
Avoid this person. He likes to be angry.
