General

  • Family park a short walk from the beach at Saint-Valery-en-Caux
  • Waterpark swimming pool and waterslide
  • Playground, library, pool table and ping pong tables

What a smashing sandy site this is. Camping Seasonova d'Etennemare is a short stroll from the centre – and sands – of Saint-Valery-en-Caux, the seventh century town in Haute-Normandie's Seine-Maritime department.

The friendly owners added a waterpark in 2014 with a swimming pool and waterslide: if you're not plunging into the water or hurtling down its chute at any point, you might prefer to bask with a book borrowed from the library while the kids hurtle around the playground…?

The site also has a pool table, ping pong tables and a pétanque court; entertainment is organised on Friday and Saturday nights in July and August.

Guests can order bread and pastries on site: perhaps you might fancy picking up your baguettes and croissants of a sunny French morn before taking the short stroll to the sunny French beach…?

Very friendly staff that speak good English (if required)

Pool was warm, kids loved the slide in the outdoor pool too

    Shower/toilet blocks clean

    Clearly demarcated pitches

Very close to a huge LeClerc for all shopping requirements

Can order bread and pastries at reception for delivery next morning.

Close to a Saint Valery-en-Caux, a beautiful fishing town down the hill - it's a slow back up though!!

    Disliked:

Lack of working motorhome service point for fresh water - so had to improvise on a vacant pitch next to a tap! The chemical loo disposal isn't near to MH service point either (minor detail I guess?), it's in the main toilet block

No on site shop - sites miss a trick with this; even just basics like milk, eggs, fruit, water etc would help.

Wifi is payable (we don't use on hols but thought it useful to mention for those that do)

It was a bit poor. As a larger site I felt it lack friendliness. 15/08/2016

Pool, coffee at bar/café. Closeness to beach.

    Disliked:

It felt like a municipal camping site with staff being a little offish and lacking warmth, which you get at smaller family run sites. The reception notice said open till 7 and we arrived at 6.45 and it was closed. Had to ring the bell and eventually someone came so that was not a great start.

Location of site was good for getting to the town etc.Toilet and shower facilities were clean and tidy. Swimming pool was good but a little restricted for times available due to classes etc in the mornings.Staff friendly and helpful.

    Disliked:

Kids park roundabout thing a slide and a bit of a climbing frame on a sloping bank behind the bar. Bar shut to early (no set time, shut when they felt like it) only had 1 pump on (when it worked) or cans out of the fridge and only 1 night of our 8 night stay was there any entertainment on. Ground was hard snapped few pegs putting awning up. Site not what it is on internet adverts.

Great family friendly campsite. We stayed 4 nights and stayed up the back near the field of cows. It was very quiet, the facilities were good and clean (bring your own toiled paper!) and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The town itself is beautiful and a 10 minute walk away, it's steep coming back but very doable, even for this 60's couple! Majority of fellow campers were French families enjoying a getaway. Would definitely recommend.

    Disliked:

Have to pay for Wifi at 3 euros, and can only connect one device.

Local attractions

Camping Seasonova d'Etennemare is in the small fishing village of Saint-Valery-en-Caux on the Albâtre coast, between Dieppe and Fécamp, all of which should suggest lots of opps for outdoor play. The town dates back to the seventh century and has a beach that's sandy at low tide, edged by cliffs that overlook the Channel.

Another pebbly beach as well as a fifteenth century castle are at Dieppe, the port town at which we very much suggest sampling scallops. The famed smoked herring dishes of these parts hail from Fécamp, another fishing port where catches have been landed for over a thousand years.

Normandy's capital Rouen is known for many a thing, such as the Notre Dame cathedral with butter tower, its castle, the many museums including the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Rouen with works by one Monet, and the Jardin des Plantes de Rouen botanical gardens.

For outdoorsy pursuits around the site, hire a kayak in the Centre Nautique de la Côte d'Albâtre, play golf or tennis, or have a spot of fishing or horse riding.
