When you’re all set for family adventures in the Champagne region, Camping du Lac Amance has a lot to offer. Sandwiched between a lake and a forest, it’s prime territory for watersports buffs, hikers and cyclists, as well as anyone with a hankering for tasting the sparkling stuff at local vineyards. The site has spacious pitches tucked under mature trees, plus modern facilities and places to walk any accompanying dogs. On the human activities front, there’s an adventure playground, volleyball or pétanque courts and ping-pong tables. The heated outdoor swimming complex (open May to September) has a sun deck, a large pool and a shallow one for novice swimmers. No need to fret about keeping everyone fed and watered, as there’s a restaurant (its bar terrace overlooks the pools, so you can enjoy a crafty glass of Champagne while keeping an eye on the kids having fun) providing tasty local cuisine and firm family favourites like burgers and pizza. You can also pick up fresh pastries and bread from the grocery store every morning, and keep your offspring going with ice cream during the day. There’s themed evening entertainment in the high season – think karaoke or bingo – and if you fancy a change of scenery, there are a couple of waterside pizzerias on Lac Amance (five minutes’ walk) as well as eateries in Dienville (10 minutes), which also has a deli and upscale bakery.

Liked Smart entrance and very secure.
Polite and friendly staff in reception.
A nice pitch for our twin axle caravan however, we would have struggled to fit on some of the smaller pitches around the site.

Disliked The shower blocks could do with a refresh, felt quite old inside even in August!
The restaurant offer a nice menu however the quality of the food was awful! We spent just under 50 Euros on 2 main meals and 2 soft drinks. Neither of us finished the main. The steak was very chewy and fatty, hardly any edible meat and the burger tasted like a frozen burger, very dry. Chips were the best part!

Liked Location is great. It’s across a quiet road from the lake with plenty of places to eat and drink.
The lake itself is beautiful and there is plenty of opportunity for water sports.
Right on a voit verte so great for biking.

Plenty for kids to do with an excellent playground area and swimming pools.

Restaurant seemed busy (was fully booked the night we got there)

Can order pastries and bread for the morning in reception (but if you’re 5 minutes too late they won’t bend the rules!)

Disliked Bar closed at 10pm.
Noise from the band.
Toilet block wasn’t great and showers need a proper descale. There is a sign to say that the new owners are renovating for the 2027 season though.

The site is five minutes’ walk from an extensive sandy beach on Lac Amance, as well as football and basketball courts, a waterskiing centre and jetski hire. You can also take leisurely family strolls around the waterside, watch wading birds from the Observatoire de Radonvilliers (55 minutes’ stroll) or go on mountain biking tours through the Forêt d’Orient Natural Regional Park from Slooly adventure sports hub (five minutes' walk). Keen anglers are also well served, with several fishing lakes within 25 minutes’ drive. Cyclists can take the Vélovoie des Lacs cycle path (five minutes by bike) to circle the lakes of Amance, Orient and Temple, while energetic teens will no doubt love the challenge of scrambling around on treetop rope courses at Grimpobranches Lusigny sur Barse (half an hour’s drive). Nigloland (15 minutes) is another great distraction for youngsters, with rollercoasters, waterslides and daily shows. And don’t forget – if you have a taste for the finer things in life, you can tour Champagne vineyards and taste their produce at wineries around the Côte des Bar (20 minutes by car).
